The Story

"The WICA Tarot began as a project for myself because I did not 'love' any tarot previously designed for witches or Wiccans. As someone with a hunger to connect with tarot on a deeper level, and buoyed by my experience as a writer/director in Toronto indie film, I took the plunge, and got 'lost in the shuffle' of photographic history. Once I started the creation process, family and friends remarked on the results, so I decided to share the deck with others who might be interested in working with it.

Each card of The WICA Tarot features a vintage photograph, from the public domain, most from the 1970s, the era when neo-paganism and Wicca really took root in America. There is some collage work and some coloration (in particular, to maintain continuity in the vintage, black and white motif). Any images of people, friends, or Elders are used in a spirit of celebration, reverence, and gratitude.
