In the first GRoW Co-Design Workshop (May 29th), we came together to explore how nature, health, and community can connect through a local Green Prescription pathway.
We opened with an experiential therapeutic horticulture activity, planting seedlings and sharing reflections on growth, care, and connection.
Then we explored four key themes that will underpin the GRoW pathway:
Access & Inclusion
Connection & Trust
Motivation & Engagement
Systems & Sustainability
Participants shared stories, drew insights, and co-created ideas using butcher’s paper, markers, audio recordings and Leaf reflections.
From the many voices at the tables, four core insights rose to the surface:
Culture is Key
Inclusion isn’t an add-on—it must be embedded from the first invitation to the final follow-up. “Just being” must be enough.
Trust grows locally
Safe, familiar settings, valuing ongoing relationships, and clear communication matter more than perfect systems.
Motivation is emotional, not clinical
Curiosity, creativity, joy, and connection—not obligation—are what draw people in and keep them coming.
Sustainability needs structure not fragmentation
The pathway must value time, provide feedback, and support the people doing the work. GRoW should build on and support work already happening in our community.
In Workshop 2 (Friday 27 June), we will:
Build on these themes to co-create a working Green Prescription Referral Pathway to Identify touchpoints, roles, and feedback loops
Draft visual and verbal models to test and refine
Register to attend here if you havent already
Thanks again for helping shape something hopeful and grounded in Cooroy.
