About Me
Joelle Hernandez is a committed educator with an enthusiasm for teaching that stems from seeing her students leverage classroom instruction to change their lives and the world for the better. Before joining the teaching profession, Joelle worked as a financial underwriter and marketer in the financial and technology sectors. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and later, in preparation to pursue her passion for teaching, her Masters in Education from Temple University. Joelle earned a Certificate of International School Leadership from the Principals' Training Center in July 2021 and is currently seeking to enter a new stage of her career as a school administrator.
Since 2016, Joelle works at the American School Foundation of Monterrey (ASFM), where she teaches AP Economics, AP Seminar, Entrepreneurship, Accounting and Marketing. She also focuses on cultivating a world-class work environment for educators as Department Head for ASFM's Business/Technology department. Upon arriving in Monterrey, Joelle coordinated resources in her new community to establish Liga de Enseñanza Judicial de México, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the rule of law via secondary education; she currently serves as the organization's Executive Director. Prior to moving to Monterrey with her family, Joelle taught technology and business in Pennsylvania as well as at Colegio Albania in Colombia, where she lead her Robotics team to a national championship. In her spare time, Joelle is an avid traveler, skier and loves spending time outdoors.
