On Wednesday, October 1, 2025 authorized representatives of the athletic departments of Edon High School, Erie Mason High School, Hilltop High School, Montpelier High School, North Central High School, Summerfield High School, and Whiteford High School notified the Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) and their leadership of their intention to withdraw from membership in the TAAC at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 academic year.  

We are very grateful for the opportunities that were provided to our student-athletes as well as for the partnership that existed between member districts during the time that we participated in the TAAC, and we wish the TAAC well as they move forward.

Subsequently, each of the aforementioned schools with the inclusion of Sand Creek High School have committed to forming a new athletic conference for the purpose of competing in interscholastic football competition named the Great Lakes Conference.  Each district board of education has approved a resolution committing their athletic departments to participating in the newly formed conference beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year.  We believe that this newly formed conference represents a strong collaborative organization that will support interscholastic athletic competition for each of the member districts, and we look forward to this new opportunity.
