Quantum Gravity
Prof. Sen works at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute in Allahabad. Prof. Sen's area of research is string theory, -- a theory that tries to give a unified description of all matter and the forces between them based on the postulate that the elementary constituents of matter are tiny one dimensional (string-like) objects instead of point particles.
Prof. Gautam Mandal is a senior professor at the TIFR, India. His main area of academic interest is Quantum Field Theory, String Theory and Gravity.
Prof. Sinha is a faculty member in the Centre for High Energy Physics group at the Indian Institute of Science. He is a theoretical physicist using the tools of superstring theory to try to understand the workings of nature.
Prof. Kothawala is an assistant professor at the IIT Madras. His current research interest includes: Black hole physics, Quantum effects in curved spacetime, Small scale structure of spacetime.
Prof. Banerjee is currently in Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, India. He is currently working on various aspects of string theory, AdS black holes and soft theorems.
Gravitational Waves and Their Implications for Black Hole and Neutron Star Physics
Prof. Bose is at IUCAA and Science Lead of the LIGO-India Project.
He is a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC) Council and the LSC sub-committee of the Indian Initiative in Gravitational wave Observations (IndIGO).
Currently his main research interests are gravitational waves, relativistic astrophysics, and cosmology.
Prof. Arun is a physicist working on various aspects related to compact objects (such as neutron stars and black holes). Currently he is a professor in Physics at the Chennai Mathematical Institute.
Frontiers in Cosmology
Prof. Sriramkumar is a member of the Gravitation and Cosmology Group in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. Current research interest of Prof. Sriramkumar include: Inflationary cosmology and the cosmic microwave background, quantum field theory in classical backgrounds and aspects of black hole physics.
Prof. Choudhury is currently in National Center for Radio Astrophysics, Pune, India. His research interests lie in various aspects of theoretical astrophysics and cosmology, in particular, reionization, intergalactic medium, neutral hydrogen at high redshifts and dark energy. At present, Prof. Choudhury devote most of his time studying a cosmological process called "reionization".
Prof. Banerjee is in the Physical Science Department in IISER Kolkata. He is at present working on a) building up models for the present accelerated expansion of the universe and b) some problems on black hole physics.
Prof. Pal is an associate professor in ISI, Kolkata. Broadly, he is interested in anything related to evolution history of the universe. His current research interests are Inflation, CMB physics and Dark Energy.
Black Hole Physics: Theoretical Aspects
Prof. Sarkar is currently an assistant professor in IIT Gandhinagar. His main area of expertise correspond to Gravitation, Black Hole Physics, Thermodynamics and Quantum Fields in curved spacetime.
Prof. Virmani is currently an associate professor in Chennai Mathematical Institute. His areas of interests are Classical and quantum properties of black holes, Gravitational aspects of string theory among others.
Astrophysics of Accretion: The Road Ahead
Prof. Bhattacharyya is in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics in TIFR, Mumbai, India. He is the principal investigator of soft X-ray telescope of Astrosat Space Mission.
Prof. Indranil Chattopadhyay is currently a scientist in ARIES, Nainital. His main area of expertise is investigations in fluid mechanics (non-magnetic, as well as magnetic) in special and general relativistic scenario.
Dr. Banerjee is a post-doctoral fellow in the School of Physical Sciences at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science. Her main area of expertise is study of accretion disk and its properties.
On Raychaudhuri Equation
Prof. Sayan Kar is in the Physics department of IIT Kharagpur. His current research interests include various modified theories of gravity which address some of the unsolved problems that arise in General Relativity. In addition, I have interests in some specific topics in String Theory and in General Relativity.
