Effective Date: May 25 2026
Gratitude Lock ("the App," "we," "us") is designed to be private by default. Your gratitude practice is between you and yourself. This policy explains what information the App handles, where it's stored, and your rights.
Everything you do in Gratitude Lock stays on your iPhone. We do not run servers, we do not have user accounts, and we do not collect or transmit your personal data to us or to any third party. There are no analytics, no ads, and no tracking.
When you use Gratitude Lock, the following information is saved locally on your iPhone in Apple's secure App Group storage:
Your name, as entered during onboarding or in Settings.
Your self-reported daily phone usage range, used to personalize the onboarding "lifetime hours on your phone" calculation. Never sent anywhere.
Your gratitude entries — the text you write during each session.
Your mood check-ins — the moods you select before and after practicing.
Your handwritten commitment signature from onboarding, stored as an image.
Your weekly quest progress, streaks, and session history.
Your settings — how many items you want to write, how long apps stay unlocked, which apps you've chosen to shield.
This information never leaves your device. We have no servers to receive it.
No name, email, or account credentials beyond what you've typed and saved on-device.
No location data.
No contacts, photos, or microphone access.
No analytics, crash reports, or usage tracking.
No identifiers used for advertising.
No data sold or shared with third parties of any kind.
Gratitude Lock relies on standard Apple frameworks to function. These are governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy, not ours.
Screen Time / Family Controls (Apple). When you choose which apps to shield, your selection is handled entirely by Apple's FamilyControls framework. The App receives opaque "tokens" that represent your chosen apps — it does not see the names or contents of those apps. Apple manages this data on your device.
StoreKit (Apple). Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple's App Store. When you purchase, Apple — not us — handles your payment information, billing, and subscription renewals. We receive only a confirmation that your purchase is valid. To manage or cancel your subscription, go to iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions, or use the "Manage Subscription" link inside the App.
We do not have access to your Apple ID, payment information, or App Store identifiers.
Gratitude Lock is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children, and because we do not collect any information at all, this remains true by design.
Because all data stays on your device:
To delete your data, uninstall the App. This removes all gratitude entries, moods, signatures, names, and settings from your device.
To revoke the App's Screen Time permission, go to iOS Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access.
To change or cancel your subscription, use the "Manage Subscription" button in the App's Settings, or visit iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
You can use Gratitude Lock without granting any optional permissions, though the App's core blocking feature requires Screen Time access to function.
If we ever change how the App handles data, we'll update this policy and revise the Effective Date above. Substantial changes will be communicated within the App.
