Gratify is a personal journal app for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version: your journal stays yours. Everything you write, photograph, and save lives on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, a copy is kept in your own private iCloud storage, under your own Apple Account. We do not run servers that hold your writing, we cannot read your journal, and we do not sell, share, or advertise against your information.
Gratify is published by Ravi Chandran M. For any question about this policy or your privacy, contact us at wallpapestudio@gmail.com.
When you use Gratify you may create journal pages and moments, titles, moods, reflection notes, custom jars, favourites, reminder settings, and up to ten photos per entry.
All of this is stored locally on your device, in the app's own private storage. Unsaved drafts are kept in a separate device-only store so your writing survives closing the app.
We have no access to any of it. There is no Gratify account, no login, and no Gratify server that receives your journal.
iCloud sync is optional, is off by default, and is available to Gratify Plus subscribers.
If you turn it on, your journal entries, photos, reflections, and jars are synchronised through Apple's CloudKit into the private database of your own Apple Account. That copy sits in your personal iCloud storage and counts against your iCloud quota. It is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). Neither we nor any third party can read it.
You can turn sync off at any time in Settings → iCloud sync. If your Plus subscription ends, syncing pauses and your local journal remains fully usable; the copy already in your iCloud is not deleted, and a new installation can restore it once, free of charge.
To delete the iCloud copy, go to the iOS Settings app → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Gratify, or turn off iCloud sync and delete the data from your Apple Account.
Photos you attach are chosen by you through Apple's system photo picker. Gratify only receives the images you explicitly select — it does not read your photo library. Selected images are resized and stored with the entry on your device (and in your private iCloud if sync is on).
If you use Save Image to keep a shared memory card, iOS asks your permission to add that image to your Photos library. This permission is used only for saving; it does not grant us access to your existing photos.
If you choose to dictate an entry, Gratify uses your microphone and Apple's speech recognition to turn speech into text. Audio is processed for transcription only and is not stored by the app or sent to us.
Where your language supports it, transcription happens entirely on your device. For languages that do not support on-device recognition, iOS performs the transcription using Apple's online speech recognition service, which means the audio is processed by Apple; the app tells you on screen when this is the case. See Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) for how Apple handles it.
Voice input is always optional, and you can decline or revoke microphone and speech recognition permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.
On supported devices, Gratify can suggest a reflection question or a title using Apple's on-device Foundation Models. This runs on your device. Only the text of the page you are working on is passed to the model (up to the first 6,000 characters for long entries) — never your photos and never the rest of your journal. Nothing is sent to us, and nothing is used to train any model. If Apple Intelligence is unavailable or turned off, the app falls back to built-in prompts.
Daily journal reminders and 11:11 Wish nudges are local notifications scheduled by your device. The reminder times you choose are stored with your other app data. No reminder content leaves your device and we do not operate a push server for messaging you.
If iCloud sync is on, Apple sends silent background notifications to tell the app that new data is available in your own iCloud. These contain no journal content.
Siri phrases and Shortcuts actions are handled by Apple's App Intents system and run against the same journal on your device. Our Shortcuts actions resolve only entries you explicitly reference and never surface private entries as suggestions.
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show only writing prompts and pause activities. They contain no personal writing.
Gratify Plus is sold as an in-app purchase. Payment is processed by Apple — we never see or receive your payment details, card number, or Apple Account credentials.
To manage entitlements and unlock Plus across your devices, the app uses RevenueCat(https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/), a subscription-management service. For this purpose RevenueCat receives:
an anonymous, randomly generated identifier created by the SDK (Gratify has no user accounts, so this identifier is not linked to your name or email);
purchase and subscription information from your App Store receipt (which product, purchase and renewal dates, subscription status, country/store);
basic technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and IP address used to make the request.
RevenueCat never receives your journal entries, photos, reflections, or any other content you write in Gratify.Purchase information is used only to determine whether your Plus features are active, to restore purchases, and to handle refunds and support requests.
Cancellations, refunds, and plan changes are handled through Apple and RevenueCat's Customer Center, reachable inside the app.
Gratify contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking of any kind. We do not build profiles, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA). We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use your information for targeted advertising.
On your device: delete an entry, photo, jar, or reflection in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all of its local data from that device.
In your iCloud: delete the app's data from the iOS Settings app as described in the iCloud sync section above. Because it lives in your own Apple Account, you control it directly.
Purchase records: retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their own policies and applicable tax and accounting law. To request deletion of the purchase record associated with your anonymous identifier, email us at [YOUR SUPPORT EMAIL].
Because we hold no copy of your journal, we cannot delete, recover, or restore it for you.
Journal data on your device is protected by iOS file protection and your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. iCloud data is protected by Apple's CloudKit security, your Apple Account credentials, and — where you have enabled it — Advanced Data Protection. Purchase requests travel over encrypted connections.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but because your writing never reaches our systems, there is no central store of Gratify journals that could be breached.
Gratify is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. As the app collects no personal content at all on our side, a child using it keeps their writing on their own device. If you believe a child has provided information through the purchase flow, contact us and we will help have it removed.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA, or similar laws — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict its processing.
Most of these rights are exercised directly in the app: your journal content is in your hands at all times, and you can view, edit, export by sharing, or delete it yourself. For the limited purchase information described above, email [YOUR SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will never discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Our legal basis for processing purchase information is the performance of our contract with you (providing the features you bought) and our legitimate interest in preventing fraudulent purchases.
The service providers named above (Apple and RevenueCat) may process the limited technical and purchase information described in this policy in the United States or other countries, under their own safeguards for international data transfers. Your journal content is not transferred anywhere by us.

We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app or in the App Store release notes. Continuing to use Gratify after an update means you accept the revised policy.
