Multi-site responsibility starting as manager of the CAD/CAM organization, progressing as manager of mechanical engineering, Director of space product design, Manager of engineering, Deputy Director of the office of the chief engineer to leading the Advanced engineering group. I was responsible for the technical leadership and direction that ranged up to 370 employees, representing multifunctional area's that include: configuration management, IT, Circuit design, Modeling & Simulation, Components, Systems, Project Engineering, Model Shop, RF, IR, Analog/digital, R&D staff, Optical, mechanical engineering/analysis and the environmental lab. Typical annual financial responsibilities included control of a $5M+ capital budget and a $30M+ operating budget. A certified 6 Sigma Greenbelt and Taguchi master to insure robust and lean design development methodologies are employed in the execution of the design. Provide leadership in new program development for remote sensor electro-optical and navigation payloads, from concept to launch. Extensive electrical, E/O & IR packaging experience. Directed activities with vendors, suppliers and other functional groups to enhance success. Consistently met annual goals and objectives. Significant achievements: Streamlined the engineering to manufacturing interface, which resulted in significant reduced cycle time and increased quality. Revamped portions of the space product development process to operate with a lean commercial type mentality. Introduced focused development areas in composites and active cooling. Lead/implemented company first enterprise wide, web based, data management system (Windchill).
GRATECH, President/Owner 1992 – 1995 Integrated services ranging from product development, systems engineering, computer consulting, solid modeling, drafting, rapid prototyping and finite element analysis. Projects ranged from development of fitness equipment, world class radiographic and fluoroscopic x-ray composite table systems to tunnel boring machinery. For commercial fitness equipment developments, coordinated and led activities with physiologists, testing laboratories, fabricators and industrial design firms. X-ray table development was the company first "world class" product developed in half the time and at one-third historical development costs
