Unlike a wax or sealant, ceramic coatings bond to the paint much more effectively so they last much longer (2-5 years, depending on maintenance, driving, etc). Ceramic coatings will last years instead of weeks or months, protect even better, provide self-cleaning properties, give some scratch resistance, and of course, fantastic water beading characteristics!

A ceramic coating is not a totally indestructible layer that will make your paint impervious to everything you throw at it. They are not a substitution to regular maintenance and washing. They will not last forever. But they will keep your car cleaner, more protected, and easier to clean for several years.
