Why should I contribute?

It is imperative that we come together to re-establish and maintain the ability to navigate to Lake Conroe via the Walden Bridge. Every canal property owner’s home value depends on a healthy canal system. By sharing the cost, we are able to accomplish our mission and goal.

What has caused the canal system to degrade? 

Over time silt enters the canal system from multiple avenues. The canals are man-made, and like any man-made item, they need to be maintained.

What legal course can be taken to prevent debris/silt from entering the canal system?

A legal course of action is extremely expensive and time consuming and ultimately would not accomplish our immediate need to clear sediment for navigation.

Will GHCA dredge my dock?

Dredging under and around a personal dock and/or bulkhead to the main canal channel is the responsibility of the individual homeowner.

Who decides how the money is spent and what projects need to be done?

Member comments and suggestions are welcome, however the five Board of Directors ultimately make the decision on which projects will be funded based on the contributions received and member impact.

How often does the Board meet, and are members allowed to attend these meetings?

The Board of Directors meet on an as needed basis and approved minutes will be posted to the private Facebook page. The President will provide updates via email to all members approximately twice/month during times when GHCA activity is underway. An annual meeting is held each November, and we will hold other public meetings as appropriate.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Your voluntary contribution is not tax-deductible because members receive direct benefit from the contribution.
