Stephen Kuhlke graduated from Texas Tech University where he met his wife, Leslie. In 1984 he started Vinyl Designs Inc (VDI), a home improvement contracting company, in San Antonio, TX. In 1987, due to Texas’ economic issues, he moved the company to Sacramento, CA. There he built the company to cover 5 western states with offices in California, Oregon and Washington. The company expanded from just single-family rehabilitation into the new construction and rehabilitation of multi-family apartment projects. In 2017 Stephen sold the company and retired. In 2020, due to COVID, he moved his family, including his two daughters’ families, to the Lake Conroe area, one next door and the other in Bentwater.
Almost immediately upon arriving in Grand Harbor, Stephen was asked to head up the POA’s IC committee where he was responsible in the building of the back gates at Grand Harbor and Harbor Side. This involved the purchase and rehabilitation of all the gates, including the building of the new gate pillars and fencing. He also headed up the concrete rehabilitation of Grand Harbor Blvd.
Stephen is now concentrating his efforts on the maintenance and rehabilitation of the Grand Harbor canal system.
