Fortnite is another game that I started playing because of my children. They always had fun playing Fortnite and since I had some free time on my hands, I wanted to see what it was all about. I had never owned a game console. I had never even played on one. My computer games consisted of Solitaire, Farmville, and Magic the Gathering. I was curios.
My first install of Fortnite was not on a console. I didn't even own one. I played on a laptop with keyboard and mouse. I was horrible at it and wondered if I would do any better on a console so I found a good deal on a used ps4 at the local pawnshop. Using a controller proved to be more my speed. Yes, I did try using a controller with the laptop but quickly learned that my outdated-limping-along laptop was probably a contributing factor to why I usually died before the first storm circle even formed! I have since upgraded from a ps4 to a ps5.
As of this writing, I have played 17,165 games of Fortnite with 23,344 kills across all games modes. When you do the math you can see that I have less than a 2% kill rate. I'm obviously not a sweat! My win percentage depends on who is carrying me. In Solo I have a 2.2% win rate but in Duos my win rate increases to 5.2%. The more people there are to carry me, the higher my win rate increase. My Trio win rate is 9% and my Squads win rate is 13.7%.
I'm presenting all of this information just to let you know... If you stumble across me hiding in a bush on Fortnite, you really don't have to try so hard. I'll probably kill myself quicker by falling off a cliff while I'm running from you than I ever will from you trying to headshot me.
