Gastro Pre-Op
Instructions
Before your Endoscopy and/or Colonoscopy...
● Inform your PCP that you are having an endoscopy/colonoscopy/or both and you were advised to stay off blood thinners and diabetes medications with weight loss effects (such as Ozempic) for one week.
● Confirm you have a ride for the day of your procedure. (You are not allowed to drive yourself home. No UBER and No Lyft.
Make sure you pick up the bowel prep from your pharmacy 1-2 weeks before your procedure. (REMEMBER: We need your H&P sheet to call in the prep - make sure you send it back in enough time!)
Make sure you read the liquid list and have the preferred items for your "Clear Liquid Day" (day before colonoscopy).
2 weeks prior to your procedure STOP Diabetes Medication with weight loss effects (not including Metformin) (Ex. Ozempic (semaglutide), Farxiga (dapagliflozin), Trulicity (dulaglutide), Invokana (canagliflozin), Victoza (liraglutide), Jardiance (empagliflozin), Bydureon (exenatide), Rybelsus, Mounjaro, etc.)
2 weeks prior to your procedure Complete and Submit your History & Physical (H&P) sheet
*IMPORTANT**
PLEASE SUBMIT THE H&P FORM AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE! Your procedure may be subject to cancellation if we do not receive it.
1 week prior to your procedure STOP BLOOD THINNERS (ex: Warfarin (Coumadin), Aspirin, Heparin, Advil, Alka-Seltzer, Apixaban (Eliquis), Aleve, Rivaroxaban (Xarelto), Motrin, Dabigatran (Pradaxa), Excedrin, Edoxaban (Savaysa), Bayer, Ibuprofen, Naprosin, Mobic, Molaxicin, etc.)
1 week prior to your procedure STOP weight loss medication (over-the-counter and/or prescription) (ex: Liraglutide (Saxenda), Semaglutide (Wegovy), and Tirzepatide (Zepbound). Orlistat (Xenical. Phentermine-Topiramate (Qsymia), Naltrexone-Bupropion (Contrave), etc.)
