We're here to help make school a little easier for everyone.
The Student Help Academic Center (SHAC) is here to help you succeed in your academic careers and beyond! Ask us for help with topics in class, college admissions, career advice, or simply for peer support.
While we have the most experience with Graham High School, we are happy to help ANY STUDENT!
While we often work closely with teachers at Graham High, we are not directly affiliated with Graham High School or Tazewell County Public Schools. Graham logo used with permission.
We can help talk through the topics so you can crush your tests and really learn your stuff! Just bring your class notes and we can get started.
Want someone to look through your college admission essay or your personal statement? We're always happy to help!
Many of us are in professional fields you might be interested in. Feel free to ask us what it's like. We can get you in touch with other peers in specific careers too!
Email us at grahamshac@gmail.com.
We are happy to help students with pretty much ANYTHING! We can help with coursework, challenging topics, college essays, scholarship essays, personal statements, or finding local volunteering options. We are also happy to discuss our college experiences and provide insight into professional schools and careers.
Don't worry - if we don't have the answer to your question, we'll find someone who does!

*** Update on Meeting Times ***
Due to changes in our tutors' school and work schedules, all meetings are now by request. Our previously scheduled weekly meetings are no longer being held. We hope that by allowing for this flexibility, you are able to meet with us at a convenient time for you!
REMEMBER: If you let us know beforehand what topic you would like to cover, we can get in touch with your teacher and get access to more resources. This will make the time more beneficial for you.

The SHAC was envisioned as a way for current students to reach out to alumni who have already successfully completed the core high school curriculum. Whether it be math, science, history, literature, or writing, our small group of tutors are well equipped to help students think differently and get on the right track. Sometimes, what happens in the classroom can be confusing, but when it is explained by a student who knows exactly what you are going through, it can just...click!
Our goal is to help you learn the material, not just the answer. We want you to understand the concepts so that you can apply it to any situation that may come before you.
Our team of tutors will be available virtually. Within our sessions, any student may come to receive help for a subject of their choice. All of our tutors are volunteers, so having sessions virtually will allow everyone to fit this into their schedule without having to make extra time commitments. We are also college/graduate students, so we'll gladly help answer any questions about college admissions as well.
Ultimately, our goal is to see students succeed so that they have a strong set of work ethic skills that will help them throughout school and throughout life. We strongly hope that the community will get actively involved in supporting the students' education.
Sincerely,
Shivam Patel & the Graham SHAC Team
