The Graham Pedal Cocktail Hi-Hat concept was designed by inventor Andy Graham and put into the public domain via Defensive Disclosure with this Youtube Video December 13, 2015, and published in the May 2016 issue of Modern Drummer Magazine, (published April 1, 2016.)
The Graham Pedal is a dual-action bass drum & hi-hat pedal system that adds functioning (open and closing) hi-hat action to any cocktail drum kit. The hi-hat is operated by lifting the heel of the bass drum foot, a technique that is surprisingly easy to get the hang of with a little practice.
Rather than using a fixed-lever system to achieve this (as on the Green Machine), the Graham Pedal is a stand-alone unit that replaces the normal bass drum pedal of the cocktail kit and uses the Griffin remote hi-hat.
The cable-driven remote hi-hat can be mounted anywhere around the kit.
