In order to bring a WFA course to the Grafton & Danbury community, FoGL is partnering with SOLO Schools (Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities). SOLO has been a world leader in Wilderness, Disaster, and Emergency Medical education for over 50 years, offering over 900 courses to more than 10,000 students in 400+ locations each year. SOLO has provided medical education and training to more than half a million people around the world.
When a serious injury happens in a remote area, definitive medical care can be an hour or more away. That gap between the moment someone is hurt and the moment they reach a hospital is where Wilderness First Aid training can save lives.
WFA teaches participants to assess and manage emergencies when help isn't coming quickly: broken bones, head injuries, hypothermia, severe allergic reactions, and more. It's built for exactly the kind of terrain that defines most of Grafton, Danbury and surrounding towns.
Our forests and trails are beautiful, and they're also places where emergencies can happen far from help. A common saying in emergency management education is, We don't rise to the occasion, we fall to our level of training.
FoGL is working to bring this 2-day certification course to Grafton, to make it easier for local residents to access valuable knowledge and skills that might be the most important thing they take on their next adventure!
