His financial management system for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers became the only one to pass the CFO Act audit for fifteen straight years without exception.

Outside of his career, Grady has a strong interest in history, family heritage, and fitness. In 2005, he restored the Sim Corder/Harrison Mill, built by his great-grandfather in the early 1900s, which was later featured in Alabama Living magazine (2009).

Grady is also committed to fitness, setting goals such as bench pressing 225 pounds past the age of 60. Since turning 30, he has followed a tradition of completing his age in push-ups on each birthday, highlighting his dedication to strength and health.
