Grades is an Android app developed by Gianmarco David. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
Your exams, grades, projections, notes, timetable and tax records are stored on your device. Grades uses these records to display your information, calculate results and provide reminders. There is no Grades account or sign-in, and reminders are scheduled on your device.
Depending on your device settings, Android may automatically back up these records or transfer them to another device. These copies are handled by your device's backup provider under its own privacy practices. You can manage backups through your device settings.
When you choose to export a CSV backup or share a grade image, the information is sent to the app or destination you select. That destination handles the copy under its own privacy practices.
Grades uses Google's Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and errors, and Firebase Remote Config to retrieve settings needed to operate the app.
These services process limited technical information, including:
Crash and error details, such as error messages and information about the app when a problem occurs.
Device model, operating system, app version and network connection information.
Identifiers for an app installation or session, and session timing used to measure reliability.
Country, language and time zone information used to deliver app settings.
We do not intentionally include your academic records, note contents or tax amounts in crash reports. Error reports may nevertheless contain contextual information about a problem.
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use that information to respond to and follow up on your request. Please include only the information needed to explain your question or problem.
Google processes diagnostic and configuration information to provide Firebase services. It may use other service providers to deliver those services. Firebase encrypts this information during transmission.
Android backup providers and destinations you choose for exports or sharing handle the copies they receive under their own terms and privacy policies.
Google and its service providers operate internationally. Information may be processed outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Google's applicable processing terms provide for transfer safeguards, including applicable adequacy arrangements and standard contractual clauses where required.
See Firebase's privacy and security information and Firebase's Data Processing and Security Terms.
Where European Economic Area, United Kingdom or similar data-protection law applies, we rely on:
Performance of a contract: to respond to support requests relating to the app.
Legitimate interests: for limited diagnostic and configuration information needed to keep Grades reliable, secure and functioning.
Legal obligations: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.
These purposes do not mean we receive a copy of the academic records stored on your device. Notification permission is optional and needed only for notifications. You are not legally required to send us support correspondence. Where applicable law requires consent for particular processing or device access, legitimate interests do not replace that requirement.
Local records remain until you delete them or clear the app's storage. You can remove all local app data through Android Settings or by uninstalling Grades. This does not automatically delete system backups, exported files or information already held by Firebase. Backed-up records may return when restored. Manage backups through your device or backup provider, and delete exported copies at their destination.
Firebase Crashlytics retains crash reports and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from its live and backup systems. Firebase retains the installation identifier used for Remote Config until its deletion is requested through Firebase; removal from live and backup systems follows within 180 days. See Firebase's retention information.
We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your request, then delete it unless longer retention is necessary for legal claims or to comply with law.
We do not associate diagnostic identifiers with your name or email address. Your email alone therefore does not let us locate your diagnostic records. If we cannot identify information relating to you, we will explain that limitation. If you provide information that enables identification, we will assess your request under applicable law. Grades has no in-app tool for deleting information held by Firebase.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact us using the details below about privacy requests. We cannot identify your diagnostic records from your email address alone or remotely disable reporting for an individual installation. Contacting us does not itself turn off reporting; we will explain any identification or technical limitations when responding to your request.
We will publish revisions on this page and update the effective date when the policy changes.
