In the months of January and February, we will be learning about the following:

ELA

• Review Short Vowel CVC words and Digraphs (ch, sh, th, ph, wh)

• CVCe words (using Magic E)

• Blends (L, R and S Blends) - Beginning and Ending Blends

• Sight Words: Primer Dolch list

• Writing Focus: Writing in simple sentences using sentence starters. Using periods and spaces.

Math

• 2D Shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, oval, rhombus, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, trapezoid)

• 3D Shapes (sphere, cube, cone, cylinder, pyramid, rectangular prism)

• Students should know what flat and solid shapes are. They should be able to differentiate between the number of corners and sides each shape has.

Science

• 5 senses

  • What are the 5 senses? Which body part matches each sense?

Social Studies

• Who is a community helper?

• Who are some community helpers?

• Where does each community helper work?

Health/Gym

• Focus on throwing and catching basketballs.
