A sequence in which term after the first is formed by adding a fixed number to the preceding term is called arithmetic sequence. The fixed number or constant is called the common difference denoted by π .Β
To find the common difference (d), you can simply subtractΒ
β’ the second term (π2 ) by the first term (π1 ), π2 - π1, orΒ
β’ the third term (π3 )by the second term (π2 ), π3 - π2 , orΒ
β’ the fourth term (π4 )by the third term (π3 ), π4- π3, orΒ
β’ in general, a term (ππ) by its preceding term (ππβ1) π = ππ β ππβ1.Β
