Effective Date: January 3, 2026
GPT-Pin ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the data handled by the GPT-Pin Chrome Extension. Unlike many other tools, GPT-Pin is designed with a privacy-first, local-only architecture.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers.
No Account Required: You do not need to create an account or provide an email address to use GPT-Pin.
No Analytics: We do not use tracking pixels, cookies, or third-party analytics (like Google Analytics) to monitor your behavior.
No Sale of Data: Because we do not collect your data, we never sell, trade, or rent it to third parties.
To provide its core functionality - pinning and organizing chat messages - the extension interacts with the content of the ChatGPT website.
Scope of Access: The extension only accesses the specific text and image labels that you manually choose to "Pin."
Storage Mechanism: All pinned content is stored exclusively on your local device using the chrome.storage.local API.
Data Retention: Your data remains on your device until you manually delete a pin or uninstall the extension. We have no technical means to access or recover your saved data.
A. GDPR Compliance (EU Users)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users in the European Economic Area (EEA) have rights regarding their data. Since GPT-Pin stores all data locally:
Right to Access/Erasure: You exercise these rights by viewing or deleting your pins directly within the extension.
Data Portability: Your data is stored in your browser's internal database on your machine.
B. CCPA & CPRA Compliance (California Users)
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide California residents with specific rights.
Notice at Collection: We "collect" data only in the technical sense of moving it to your local storage for your use.
Do Not Sell/Share: GPT-Pin does not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by California law.
C. CalOPPA & Do Not Track
In accordance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), we disclose that GPT-Pin does not track users across third-party websites and therefore does not respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals.
Storage: Necessary to save your pins on your machine across browser sessions.
Host Permissions (chatgpt.com): Necessary to integrate the user interface (buttons/sidebar) and read the messages you explicitly choose to pin.
We may update this policy occasionally. Any changes will be reflected by a new "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
