Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the GPS Map Camera app for mobile devices, together with any related services operated by Packet Bracket (collectively, the "Application"). Packet Bracket is hereby referred to as the "Service
Provider".
Information Collection and Use
The Application does not require you to create an account. It does not collect your name, email address or contacts. It has no servers of its own. Your photos, videos, locations and notes are not sent to the Service Provider
and the Service Provider never holds a copy of them.
The Application uses the following device features only to provide its core functionality:
- Camera: to take the photos and videos you capture. They are saved to your device's gallery (Pictures folder).
- Precise and approximate location (only while you are using the Application): to show the coordinates, address, altitude and accuracy in the stamp on your photos and videos, to add GPS data to the photo file, and to place
your captures on a map. The Application never requests or uses background location. The Application also checks whether a location comes from a mock location app and marks such captures, so that the stamp cannot be faked
unnoticed.
- Compass (magnetometer and accelerometer sensors): to show the direction you are facing in the stamp. Readings are used in the moment and are not stored separately.
- Microphone: used only to record sound with your videos. If you do not grant this permission, videos are recorded without sound. The Application does not record audio at any other time.
- Notifications: to show the progress and result while a video stamp is being processed.
- Photo picker: if you add a logo to your stamp, only the single image you choose through Android's photo picker is copied into the Application's private storage. The Application cannot see your other photos.
Information stored on your device
The following information is stored only on your device, inside the Application's private storage:
- your settings and stamp templates;
- your projects, project names and notes;
- the record of your captures (date, time, coordinates, address, file names) and their proof records (verification code and file fingerprint, used by the "Verify" feature).
Photos and videos you take are saved in your device's gallery. They contain the stamp you chose, and photos also contain location and date/time data in the file (EXIF). Please keep this in mind before you share a photo with
others.
Reports and exports (PDF, CSV and KML files) are created on your device only when you ask for them. They are shared only with the app or person you choose in Android's share menu.
Services that receive data
To provide some features, the Application connects to the following services:
- Address lookup: to turn coordinates into a street address, the Application uses the geocoding service built into your device's operating system (on most devices provided by Google). The coordinates of your capture are sent
to this service for the lookup.
- Maps (MapTiler): to show map images in the stamp and the project map, the Application loads map tiles from MapTiler. When it does, MapTiler receives the map area being requested (which shows the approximate location), your
device's IP address and basic technical information such as the Application and operating system version. Map data © MapTiler © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Location services: your location is obtained through Google Play services on your device.
- Android Backup: if backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may back up the Application's settings, templates, projects and capture records to your own Google account. Photos and videos waiting to be processed
are excluded from backup. You can turn backup off at any time in your device settings.
These services are operated by their providers under their own privacy policies:
- Google Play Services: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- MapTiler: https://www.maptiler.com/privacy-policy/
The Application does not display advertisements. It does not use an Advertising ID, Google Analytics, Firebase, Crashlytics or any other analytics, tracking or crash-reporting service. The Application does not use cookies.
Third Party Access
The Service Provider does not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties. Apart from the services described above, which receive only what they need to provide their function, no information leaves your
device unless you choose to share it yourself.
The Service Provider may disclose information you send to them directly (for example by email):
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
International Data Transfers
The services described above (such as Google and MapTiler) may process data in countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). These providers are responsible for applying
appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or adequacy decisions, as described in their own privacy policies.
Your Rights
Because your data is stored on your device and not by the Service Provider, you are in control of it:
- You can delete captures and projects inside the Application at any time.
- You can delete photos and videos from your device's gallery.
- You can revoke the camera, location, microphone or notification permission at any time in your device settings.
- Uninstalling the Application, or clearing its data in your device settings, deletes all information stored by the Application. Photos and videos already saved in your gallery stay there until you delete them.
You may contact the Service Provider at packetbracket@gmail.com to ask about your rights, or about any information you have sent to the Service Provider.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right
to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. The Service Provider does not sell or share personal information. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact the Service Provider at packetbracket@gmail.com.
Data Retention Policy
- Information stored on your device: retained for as long as the Application is installed, or until you delete it inside the Application or clear the Application's data. The Service Provider never holds a copy.
- Photos and videos in your gallery: retained until you delete them.
- Data received by the services described above: retained by those providers in accordance with their own retention policies.
- Emails you send to the Service Provider: retained only for as long as needed to respond to you, or as required by law.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children or market the Application
to them. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent the Service Provider personal information, please contact the Service Provider at packetbracket@gmail.com so that it can be deleted.
Security
The information the Application stores is kept in its private storage on your device, where other apps cannot read it, and is protected by your device's own security features such as the screen lock and encryption. Connections
to the map service use encrypted HTTPS. Photos and videos saved to your gallery can be seen by other apps you have given access to your photos.
Data Breach Notification
If a data breach occurs that affects your personal data held by the Service Provider, the Service Provider will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy with a new effective date. Previous versions of this Privacy
Policy are available on request at packetbracket@gmail.com.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-10-21
Your Consent
By using the Application, you agree to the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. Permissions such as camera, location and microphone are requested only when you need the related feature, and you
can withdraw them at any time in your device settings.
