Division 1 (grades 3-5): This is the opportunity to compete against other schools within their Division in Region 14 who chose the same problem. The teams will perform their Long Term Problem Solution to a panel of judges and also solve one Spontaneous Problem together for a different panel of judges. The scoring is a pre-set criteria that the teams will have access to during their preparation time period. They will receive a separate score for each event for a cumulative score that will determine if they advance to the Virginia State Tournament. It is a great event to see other interpretations of the Long Term Problems, as well as see performances from the higher divisions (middle school and high school teams)
Primary Division (grades K-2): This is the opportunity to participate in a tournament setting and see other schools. The Primary teams are not scored, but they are given detailed feedback and encouragement for their efforts and creativity. This is a great introduction to the Odyssey process and a wonderful way to hone their skills for years to come! It is a great event to see other interpretations of the Long Term Problems, as well as see performances from the higher divisions. Primary teams are not eligible for advancement.
This tournament is for the entire state of Virginia. The winners from each of the regions will meet and compete in the same manner as the Regional Tournament.
The winners from the State Tournaments around the country as well as international teams compete in the same format as the Regional and State tournaments.
