Benefits Of Having Your Qualifications Recognized
What is Professional Recognition or “Anerkennung”?
This is an official notice stating that your qualifications and professional qualifications are legally equivalent to a German professional qualification. This requires undergoing a recognition procedure which you can apply from here.
Why is it important?
For regulated professions (doctors, teachers, nurses, etc.), recognition is necessary. In cases of non-regulated professions (IT specialists, hotel specialists, electricians, metal workers etc.), it is optional yet highly advantageous.
What can it bring me?
Option for work permit and job search – With a recognition notice and a job offer, you may enter Germany as a recognized skilled worker. This is also helpful if you wish to enter Germany for the purpose of looking for a job.
Equivalence – Recognition offers the same professional opportunities as a person who has completed their training in Germany.
Better entry to the labor market – Recognition may make it quicker for you to find a job appropriate to your qualification and which meets your salary expectations. Even with a partial recognition, this may still be helpful in starting your professional career in Germany.
Better career opportunities – Recognition will make it easier for you to move up the ladder in a company.
Transparency – Attaching your recognition to your job application will make it easier for German companies to assess your skills and knowledge.
Opportunities for training – Recognition can lead to opportunities to participate in further training based on the qualification.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and coordinated by DIHK Service GmbH. ProRecognition was launched in 2015 and has been implemented in the Philippines in cooperation with the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2024.
