Since 2022, I’ve run “A Million Steps in 202x”, where we aim at walking at least one million steps in the year. Each of us in this community has found the group commitment to be a really strong motivator.
GOYAM is an expanded experiment: showing our bodies some grace through mindful movement. Committing to something for 100 days is a lot. One day at a time is what gets us there.

Where did the idea come from? In the wake of knee replacement surgery in 2022, I thought about walking for leisure - for the first time in almost two decades. A million steps sounded crazy. But, it’s only about 2,800 steps per day. Unimaginable before the knee upgrade. Trivially easy these days for which I’m eternally grateful.
So, let’s take a large goal - “100 days of movement” - and do it one day at a time.
