Constitution Week

September 17 - 23

Governor Thomas Ford Chapter, along with thousands of other DAR chapters across the USA, celebrates Constitution Week Sept. 17-23.  Throughout the week, our chapter publicizes Constitution Week with posters in area libraries and schools.

The Constitution is the oldest living document still in use in the world today and is the foundation of our republic, protecting the individual liberties of all citizens through written law.

Constitution Week was initiated by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), when Daughters successfully petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into Public Law #915 on August 2, 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
