Ukrainian Party Delegate to the COP30 held in Belem, Brazil 🇧🇷. Heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Economy, Environment & Agriculture of Ukraine 🇺🇦 for there supporting in pushing forward action of Youth, Traditional & Indigenous projects, International peace etc. at this critical UN Event of UNFCCC.
Took around 6 Flights and a total of 58 Hours to reach Belem, Brazil from India. Costing more than 2.5k USD just one way. Accommodation was another Horror story for the Youth with high cost because of the sudden demand. Which was one of the major reasons why youth, indigenous people were from Global South where not able to make it.
Exclusively pushed for adding these lines in the YOUNGO Youth Statements, to make sure the people in the health communities outside the western system are also heard and UNFCCC & Parties be inclusive to ensure action for them with them.
At the End!! Was happy with the Global Mutirao text of COP30 for the Traditional Medicine aspect. But how meaningful it will be? Not Sure.!
For Strong Climate Action, there is always a need to push the climate agenda with the parties. Making them understand the idea, the roadmap & getting there feedback to develop our projects is real key in the implementation of the climate NDCs & much more.
We couldn't follow a lot of Negotiation as i was the only delegate from Govardhan App & we were working full time with CE for Action for Food Pavilion who supported us to atleast make it to COP Space.
The Main Negotaitions we followed was the :
Mountain Agenda by Mountain Group.
Through YOUNGO WGs like Food etc.
There is so much being said today about Climate & Health, about Mental Health, about building resilient systems… yet a painful truth remains unspoken.
There is a massive gap a deep, persistent silence, where the most affected voices should be.
Despite all the high-level dialogues, Youth Councils, global health NGOs, foundations and alliances… there is still no real inclusivity for the communities who have safeguarded human wellbeing and biodiversity for centuries.
Indigenous peoples, traditional healers, local knowledge keepers the first to feel the impacts of climate change and the last to be heard are still missing from the center of global health conversations.
This isn’t just a missed opportunity.
It is an injustice.
Because Indigenous and Traditional Health is not a parallel system or an “alternative” perspective it is the living bridge between biodiversity and human wellbeing, between the Environment Ministry and the Health Ministry, between climate resilience and community survival.
At COP30 in Belém, the heart of the Amazon this truth was impossible to ignore.
If the world truly wants equitable climate action and health outcomes, we must bring these knowledge systems from the margins to the center.
Not as tokens.
Not as side events.
But as equal partners shaping the future of global health and climate policy.
The world cannot heal while its original healers remain unheard.
For Me! The COP30 in Belem, Brazil was too expensive, without the work with Action for Food Pavilion we would have never made it. But advocating for change is failing in different area's since the people who need to be there are still not able to make it to these spaces or not able to effectively or meaningfully engage. The Understanding of Global North about Global South is through a some middle Man...
I Hope that Middle Man is not anymore needed. More Global South people get to be at these spaces rather than they being virtual. More meaningful engagements can be crafted so new, needed topics and people can meet the people who are in power.
Youth who can say the Truth!! Most of the time, people when they met the people in power they don't tell them the truth, they just blast them with nice words and appreciate them! Without True feedback how can the people in power get to know what's needs to be done.
A Lot of Issue to Fix.
The People of Belem! Had made Local Friends I will remember for the rest of my Life.
Mrs. Fatima & her family.
Mr. Wallace etc. made my Days at Belem so special.
Sharing & Advocating for Climate & Health, also sharing about the Govardhan : Biodiversity App.
We had 3 Side Events
Ukraine Pavilion | 13 Nov 1PM | Org. : Govardhan
Digital Innovation Pavilion | 13 Nov 12 PM | Org : One Health Team
Digital Innovation Pavilion | 20 Nov 10:30AM | Org. : Govardhan
At COP30, we did everything we could to open a long-overdue space for Indigenous and Traditional Knowledge not as an add-on, but as the heartbeat of Climate and Health action. We tried to make sure that the wisdom of those who have protected nature for generations could finally be heard, respected, and placed where it truly belongs: at the center of global solutions.
We were honoured to stand with voices like Mr. Kurikindi from Ecuador, a guardian of traditional medicine; Ms. Juliana from Living Tree, who carries the living memory of her land; and researchers like Dr. Domenico, who work to bridge science with ancestral wisdom. Their presence wasn’t just symbolic, it was a reminder that climate resilience begins with listening to those who have healed the Earth long before the world began to talk about climate change.
