Current members of the Gout lab:
Meagan Bratton: First year PhD student working on fidelity of transcription.
Austin Drury: Master's student (co-advised with Dr. Amy Dapper: http://www.amy-dapper.com/ ) working on the evolution of recombination rate.
Sarah Patterson: Undergraduate student working on methods to analyze single-cell transcriptomics data.
Olivia Dinep-Schneider: Master's student. Working on transcription fidelity, the impact of glyphosate-based herbicide on health and transcription.
Eastilan Appiah: Master's student. Working on mechanisms of resistance to hydrogen peroxide in Streptococcus pneumoniae and yeast at the transcriptome level.
Advaith Sunil: Undergraduate student working on the evolution of RNA polymerases subunits across the tree of eukaryotes.

I am currently recruiting graduate students (all levels) with a strong interest in computational biology and moleculkar evolution.
We are also recruiting a post-doctoral research in computational biology to work on two NIH-funded projects related to translation fidelity and their consequences on neurodegenerative diseases (first project) and mutation rates in mitochondrial genome (second project).
Please contact me at jgout@biology.msstate.edu and include a brief description of your research interests and a CV.
