We want our guests from all around the world to discover the most distinctive flavors of traditional Hungarian cuisine, while also experiencing a taste of Budapest’s rich history and unique atmosphere.
Goulash Budapest is about more than serving the most iconic dishes of traditional Hungarian cuisine. We also want to bring the unique spirit and rich heritage of Budapest closer to our guests. Our aim is for guests to experience, over a pleasant lunch or dinner, something of the special atmosphere of the city that was born in 1873 through the unification of Buda, Pest and Óbuda, and went on to become one of Europe’s most important capitals.
By recalling historical moments, iconic buildings and remarkable Hungarian figures, we would like to offer a brief glimpse into Budapest’s rich past, so that alongside the flavors of our cuisine, our guests can also take home a small memory of the capital’s history and culture.
Every dish in our kitchen is prepared using carefully selected Hungarian ingredients, traditional recipes and the expertise of Hungarian chefs. We believe that the true value of Hungarian cuisine lies in honest flavors, quality ingredients and the professional knowledge and traditions preserved and passed down through generations.
Our chef, Tibor Holló, developed his professional approach under the guidance of Ferenc Gömöri, one of the most renowned and highly respected masters of Hungarian hospitality, at the legendary Tanya Csárda in Lajosmizse, which has been operating since 1973. Even before the political transition in Hungary, the restaurant was already one of the defining destinations for traditional Hungarian hospitality. For more than half a century, it has preserved and passed on the values of traditional Hungarian cuisine.
We believe that a truly memorable restaurant experience is about more than exceptional food. It is also about the atmosphere, the stories and the genuine Hungarian hospitality that our guests take with them.
