Tina Goudreau Collison and her undergraduate research team are dedicated to advancements in chemistry education with a focus on organic chemistry. Since 2012, her research has largely encompassed the development, implementation, and evaluation of using novel teaching strategies in undergraduate organic chemistry classrooms and laboratories authoring the unique lab workbook REActivities. She is also the pioneer of the Sign Language Incorporation in Chemistry Education (SLICE) project; A research effort that aims to improve cognitive gains for not only d/Deaf and hard of hearing students but for all students in the organic chemistry course.
In addition to the discipline-based education research (DBER), she also has a few wet chemistry projects directed at training chemistry majors/minors and biochemistry majors for advanced education (PhD programs/medical school) and/or industrial positions. These projects involve the synthesis of biologically significant compounds, and investigative methodologies in organic synthesis.
