• Oedipus pleads to Theseus in such words after Creon comes to Colonus and kidnaps his daughters (which is in SCENE III).

FC 94: 1st CHORAL DIALOGUE after SCENE I

• "We are thrown upon your mercy as on God's" - this is part of Antigone's initial plea to the Chorus. Nick translated is "...as though you were Gods."
