Even more thrilled to see one of our studies from ATMOS LAB, led by Prof. Jayanarayanan Kuttippurath, mentioned in the article (Number 5 in Agriculture and Environment sub-section; bottom left of the article).
Our work — "No severe ozone depletion in the tropical stratosphere in recent decades" — makes a counterstatement to a previous claim that most tropical regions have an ozone hole and that people living there are widely exposed to harmful UV using a wide array of datasets.
It means a lot to be included in something that celebrates the incredible work and spirit of our KGP community.
I received the Best Paper Award for my presentation on "Aerosol Inhibition on Photochemical Surface Ozone Formation Under Future Climate and Air Quality Scenarios" at the International Conference on Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CARE) 2025 (March 24-25, 2025) organised by Cochin University of Science and Technology- India, Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research, CUSAT and the Indian Meteorological Society
This research was part of the Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship for Doctoral Research (United States-India Educational Foundation) 2024-25 at Columbia University, where I had the privilege of working with Prof. Dan Westervelt at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
