While filling out our hourglass, our group learned how to work well together. We started the week on Monday learning how to be a good citizen and investigating the different issues in our community. We also talked about the difference between fact and truth and opinion and perspective. On Tuesday we brainstormed issues that we were all passionate about. We decided on barriers to secondary education. We got more specific and decided to focus on the bridge from high school to college. Our root cause was that some students don't have the financial ability to reach college. Others simply can't figure out how to navigate parts of the application process. On Wednesday, we called Communities In Schools to ask how we could help them out with their mission. After the call, we decided to make a website to help students successfully make it through the application process. Next, we created our slogan, "College: you know you want it!" We presented our early idea to some "sharks". On Thursday, we started putting our ideas for our website on paper. On Friday we finished our website prototype and wrote our script. The next three speakers will be explaining the pages on our website.
