1. Who we are
Goodwin Nutrition is an evidence-based nutrition coaching service operated by Michael
Goodwin, trading as Goodwin Nutrition. We are the controller of your personal data under
the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Who can use the service
The app is intended for adults aged 18 years or over.
3. Personal data we collect
We collect account details, onboarding information, goals, height, age, training information,
body weight, nutrition logs, hydration, competition details, and support communications.
Certain information — such as body weight, nutrition and related health information —
constitutes special category health data, which the law gives extra protection. Apple Health: If you turn on "Daily steps" in the app's Settings, Goodwin Nutrition reads your daily step count from Apple Health (read only). It is shown to you and your coach alongside your nutrition. We never write data to Apple Health, never use Health data for advertising or marketing, and never sell it or share it with third parties. You can turn this off at any time in Settings and choose to delete the step history we hold.
4. How we use your data
We use your data to provide coaching, calculate your nutrition targets, manage your
account, provide support, maintain and improve the security of the service, and comply with
our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use advertising trackers.
5. Lawful basis
Our lawful bases under Article 6 of the UK GDPR include contract, where processing is
necessary to provide the service you have signed up for, and consent, where appropriate.
Special category health data is processed on the basis of your explicit consent under
Article 9(2)(a). You can withdraw that consent at any time (see section 12).
6. Automated processing
Your nutrition targets are calculated automatically, but they are reviewed by Michael
Goodwin as part of the coaching service. We do not make solely automated decisions that
produce legal or similarly significant effects.
7. Sharing your data
Your data is accessible only to you and your coach, except where our service providers
(processors) assist us in running the service, as described in section 8.
8. Service providers
Supabase provides our hosting and database services and acts as our data processor
under a data processing agreement. Stripe processes payments on our behalf. Your card details are handled directly by Stripe under its own terms and privacy policy — we do not receive or store your payment card details. If in-app purchases are ever offered through an app store, Apple and/or Google may process payment information directly under their own terms.
9. Security
We protect your data using encryption in transit, authentication, role-based access controls,
secure hosting, least-privilege access, and appropriate organisational safeguards. Please be
aware that no internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Retention
We retain your data while we are providing services to you, and ordinarily delete your
personal data within one month after your account is closed — unless a legal obligation
requires us to keep limited records (such as financial records) for longer.
11. International transfers
Your data is hosted within the European Economic Area (EEA). If any transfer of your data
outside the UK or EEA occurs, we will put in place appropriate safeguards as required by the
UK GDPR.
12. Your rights
You have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and
portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at goodwinnutrition@outlook.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
13. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy from time to time and will notify users of any material changes.
