“Stronger Than Yesterday”

The Goodrich Softball Program in conjunction with the Goodrich Angels Fastpitch Organization, the Goodrich Baseball Program, the Goodrich Thunder Baseball Program, the Goodrich Soccer Program, Goodrich Community Schools, and many members of the Goodrich community will be hosting the second annual  Holly Francis Friends, Family, and Community Celebration on Saturday, April 20, 2024. 

The goal of the tournament is to remember an amazing mother, wife, friend, and member of the Goodrich community who passed away in November 2020 due to complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks cells in the brain and spinal cord that are needed to keep muscles moving, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis. There is no cure for ALS.

Holly is the mother of 2 current Goodrich Students and 1 Goodrich Graduate: Joey (College), Luke (11th), and Maggie (9th), and previously worked at Oaktree Elementary where she felt fortunate to meet so many wonderful kids and parents in this great community. 

Holly won a softball state championship with Cardinal Mooney High School and played softball at Aquinas College. The two main pillars of Holly’s life were to put others' needs in front of her own and to take ownership of her ability to make the best of each day. She believed that everyone with their health has the power to be stronger than we were yesterday: Physically, Emotionally, and Spiritually.

To commemorate the event, and to give back to the community, we will be selling apparel to promote the tournament and to raise money for the Holly Francis Memorial Scholarship Fund. All proceeds from apparel sales and other fundraising activities will fund as many $500-$1000 scholarships as possible for outgoing Senior Goodrich Martian students who are attending college or trade schools after graduation.

Applications for scholarships will be made available after the conclusion of the tournament.
