Although I have not decided on a specific career, I have decided to pursue engineering as my field of study. I choose this career because my father is a hard-working engineer and I have always been interested in his work, asking him many questions about his work and what he is currently working on. I knew this career field was for me when I went to an open house engineering college near me. All the information and programs in the college truly caught my eye.
Classes I have taken/are currently taking are Geometry and Chemistry Honors. A class that is a huge help to my preferred field of study is Engineering I in the Forrest Career and Technology Center. In Engineering I, we so far have learned how to make an ePortfolio for colleges.
I have participated in extracurricular activities in the past such as track, cross-country, swim, and tennis. They taught me how to set goals for yourself and push yourself outside of your limits and put yourself out there, being your own person, in this case, athlete. I haven’t participated in any activities outside of school that will help in my career choice. I have never been employed but after I learn some knowledge in Engineering I in the Forrest Career and Technology Center, I plan on looking for an internship connected to engineering.
After graduating from high school, I will not join the military or go straight to the work force. Nor will I work as an apprentice, attend a community college or trade school. I will probably go to a four-year college or university to pursue my education in engineering. My plans may change over time.
After I achieve my career goal, I don’t particularly believe I will directly affect the community in which I live in. But I do believe I will affect society as a whole because engineering creates solutions and technologies to assist others with their issues. My impact on the world is the same as it would with society. I will have a positive impact on the world and working alongside a determined, group of people, we will help improve the quality of life for people around the world.
