The Gone Fishing Robot

Tobi Delbruck, Sensors Group, Inst. of Neuroinformatics, UZH-ETH Zurich

The Gone Fishing Robot plays this classic game of manual dexterity by tracking the fish from above with a DVS event camera and precisely timing its fishing rod dips. It improves its fishing ability by using binary reinforcement learning. Fishing success rate reaches about 20% by centering the next actions around the median of the previous successful actions.

The Gone Fishing Robot is popular with visitors who attempt to “outfish” the robot.
