Current situation of artworks for blind:
Museums often lack or have only a few options for blind (81% blind people say that museums aren’t adapted enough)
Expensive production of professionally adapted artworks
Limited selection of properly adapted artworks
Most learning materials are presented in images
Currently most used drawings wear out quickly and aren’t easily readable
Our developed solution, HapticGate, is a device that generates 3D replicas of artworks for blind people to touch and comprehend. Our created solution represents the main idea and aspects of the artwork. HapticGate is fully adapted for independent use by the blind and includes an integrated audio guide, a fully tailored control system with a Braille display and optional scent system. Portable and reusable, HapticGate is designed for quick and easy interchangeability of various artworks. It can be customized for use in museums, libraries, educational institutions and travelling exibitions specifically for blind.
HapticGate consists of multiple cylindrical-shaped components, each of which is individually raised by Servo motors. These motors are raised according to the selected image.
