What if my dog has never been off-leash?
That’s completely okay! Many of our guests start out just like that. We take a gentle, gradual approach to help your dog feel safe and confident. At first, we’ll spend time getting to know them in a secure, fenced area and only allow more freedom once they’re comfortable and responding well.
If you prefer, we can also keep your dog on a leash for their entire stay to ensure they feel safe and secure — whatever makes you and your pup most comfortable. Our team is experienced in reading body language and building trust, so whether on or off leash, your dog will have a positive, stress-free experience at Golden Acres.
Do I need to bring bowls, toys, beds, crates, etc?
No need — we’ve got it all covered! We provide clean bowls, comfy beds, and plenty of toys for every guest. However, you’re always welcome to bring your dog’s favorite toys, bed, and crate if it helps them feel more at home. Our goal is to make their stay as comfortable and familiar as possible. Remember, they will not be required to sleep in a kennel at night, but if they would rather then that is totally fine.
What is required?
Food, vaccine records (let me know if you want contact information for low-cost vaccines!) and paperwork that I can send you through a link or you can fill out in person.
Can you keep my dog separate from all the others?
Because Golden Acres is a kennel-free environment, all dogs must be friendly and comfortable around both other dogs and people. We understand some dogs may prefer extra space, so we’re happy to help keep smaller or more reserved dogs away from larger groups when possible. While dogs may occasionally pass by others when outside, our team carefully monitors all interactions to ensure everyone stays safe, happy, and relaxed.
Do you take small dogs?
Of course! We love our small guests just as much as the big ones. We make sure smaller dogs are comfortable, get the right level of play, and have safe spaces to relax when they need a break
