Several rock 'n' roll competitions are held through the year.

Senior Nationals is held at Labour weekend and is the top competition for Rock 'n' Roll dancers in New Zealand.

Junior Nationals is the equivalent of Senior Nationals and is held at Easter. It is for those under the age of 18.

No Jumps is held in March and is a competition which does not allow lifting of the partners.

CCU Regionals is the Wellington Region competition and includes competitors from the lower North Island and top of the South Island. It is open to Seniors and Juniors.

Masters Games rock 'n' roll competitions are held every second year in February in Wanganui.

Harbour City Club hold an annual competition for club members plus an open section for other club members.

A few other local competitions are held in other parts of the country.
