Our pilot participants

We undertook a number of Pilot interviews to test out the survey questions, methodology, recording data and to get feedback from our Interviewees, here is what they had to say:

‘We were very positive about getting involved in this piece of work as an employer because it is has helped us think through how we enable people with disabilities to become part of our workforce. Whilst we are committed to equal opportunities and we do try hard to be inclusive, we can unwittingly put barriers in the way because of lack of knowledge and being involved in this research has made us think about what we could do better’.

Debbie Mathews, CEO of Manor & Castle Development Trust Ltd

“I found that taking part in this research was both useful and thought provoking. It gave me the chance to discuss how we approach employing disabled people and the concerns we have around this issue. The interview left me with a fresh perspective on disability employment.”

Ian Drayton, Partnership Manager at SOAR

“The opportunity to think and reflect on our current practice has been invaluable and will help shape the support available to employers in creating more accessible and inclusive workplaces”.

Matt Dean, Chief Executive at Zest

“It was useful to take part in ‘Getting on and Keeping on’ because we learnt what we are doing well and also what we can do to improve. We are committed to being an inclusive employer and hope that our approach is reducing the barriers to employment for disabled people.”

Sara Gowen, Managing Director at Sheffield Young Carers
