This tour is ideal to explore the quite paved roads of the island and to discover the terrain of the central island. During the tour you can take a swim in both the north shore (Marmaros) as well as on the south shore (Kapikaya). The section from Derekoy to Marmaros is on gravel, all other sections are paved.
Start in Centrum and follow the roads south of the dam. Before reconnecting to the main east-west road head south to reach the southern shore. You need to climb and decend before reaching Kapikaya Beach. Before reaching the shore there is some really nice scenery with rock formations. Once you reach the shore head west and follow the road until the crossing of Laz Koyu. From here head right (north) and reach Sahinkaya. Here head west again towards Derekoy. The road divides Derekoy into two. Towards the end of the village there should be a sign to the right that reads Marmaros, follow the sign. You should reach Marmaros beach which has beautiful views of Samothraki and is really nice to go for a swim. There are numerous other nearby beaches that you access from the first crossing (head left) as you are leaving Marmaros beach. Head back towards Derekoy and watch out for a sign that reads "Marmaros Selalesi" heading to the left. Follow the sign, the road is a track road that is very rideable but it becomes a tricky single-track as one approaches the waterfall. If you decide to ride all the way to the waterfall beware there is a drop on one side and sometimes there is foot traffic on the path. There are two waterfalls the first is about 3 m or so in height, the second (about 50 m further along the path) is 38 m in height. Follow the route you took to return to Derekoy (the GPS trace includes an attempt to find a short-cut which doesn't exist so I don't recommend following the GPS trace). From Derekoy we follow the same roads back to Centrum. The decent from Sahinkaya to the shore is excellent and you might want to take a refreshing swim at Kapikaya before starting the climb back to Centrum.
