I earned my PhD with distinction in philosophy from the University of Helsinki. During my time there, I worked as a researcher with the RADAR Group and was a visiting scholar at Lund University. My dissertation on moral responsibility was written under the supervision of Lilian O'Brien and Antti Kauppinen (thesis committee: Gunnar Björnsson, Hille Paakkunainen, and Per-Erik MIlam). Michael McKenna served as my opponent in the public defense (April 2025). I continue to work on responsibility related issues, the ethics of AI, and public philosophy initiatives while enjoying teaching ethics courses to STEM students at UW-Madison's Information School.

I have prior graduate degrees in philosophy (ethics & cognitive science) and music from, respectively, the University of Houston and the University of Paris VIII. I have an undergraduate degree in music (piano performance & music theory) from a small liberal arts school not far from where I grew up in Texas, at Southwestern University. I have additionally studied music composition and digital music production under some wonderful teachers in the US and abroad.

I have worked extensively in education - as a philosophy instructor, English teacher (in France), and piano teacher. I have also worked as a professional translator (French-English) in real estate and literature and composer (with my own online business), and I had a brief corporate career in the energy sector. These diverse experiences serve both my current research and teaching.
