A tribute to Words That Heal

We respect the work of Words Can Heal. Here is a pledge from their website (which was mentioned in a Voice of America news article)

Words Can Heal has been mentioned in Hal Urban's book (Positive Words, Powerful Results). The web address WORDSCANHEAL.org is no longer supported with a site, but the curriculum appears to have good value. According to Urban, over 18,000 students in Los Angles have received the training. Here is the pledge:

You can take a pledge to avoid verbal abuse and gossip.

I pledge to think about the words I use.

Gossip hurts, people, including myself.

I will work to eliminate it from my life.

I will try to replace words that hurt with words that encourage, engage and enrich.

I will not become discouraged because making the world a better place is hard work.

I am pledging to do that.

One word at a time.
