At goda (“we,” “our,” or “us”), your privacy, security, and trust are foundational. This detailed Privacy Policy describes the types of information we collect when you use goda on Meta Quest, how we collect it, the purposes for which we use it, how we protect your data, with special care for children’s privacy, and your rights. We strictly follow Meta’s Virtual Reality Checks (VRC), including VRC.Quest.Privacy.2, as well as relevant privacy laws.
Meta User ID:
This unique alphanumeric identifier is assigned by Meta to your Quest account.
We access it during login to recognize your account for saving your game progress, syncing settings, and enabling multiplayer matchmaking.
The Meta User ID is never exposed outside the game or shared with any third parties.
It is stored securely within the game’s session and cloud save infrastructure only for as long as necessary to maintain your account data.
Display Name and Avatar:
We retrieve your Meta Quest display name and avatar image to personalize your in-game identity and show you to other players during multiplayer sessions.
This data is accessed in real-time but is not stored persistently on our servers; it remains within Meta’s secure systems or your local device.
We do not alter or transmit this data outside the Meta ecosystem.
Age Group:
Provided by Meta’s platform, this categorical information (e.g., under 13, teen, adult) helps us deliver age-appropriate content and enforce regulatory compliance such as COPPA or GDPR-K.
It guides content filters, in-game chat restrictions, and UI adjustments for younger players.
Age group data is temporarily held in volatile memory during gameplay to customize experiences and is not stored externally or shared.
Session Data:
Includes timestamps of game start and end, total playtime, and session frequency.
Used to monitor user engagement and troubleshoot technical issues. Stored securely and anonymized where possible.
Player Movement and Actions:
We process real-time positional tracking data (e.g., coordinates, movements, gestures) and game actions (tag attempts, item pickups, scores) essential for core gameplay mechanics.
This data is processed locally on your device or in Meta’s cloud for multiplayer synchronization.
Positional data is transient and only retained for active sessions or temporarily buffered for synchronization—never archived long-term.
Multiplayer Interaction Metadata:
Includes information about match participants, party formations, and match outcomes to support social gameplay and prevent abuse.
Chat or voice content is not collected by goda; all communications occur via Meta’s platform systems.
Interaction logs are retained only as long as necessary to enforce fair play and community standards.
User Preferences and Settings:
Customizations like control schemes, audio volume, visual settings, and accessibility options are saved locally or synced securely via Meta cloud services.
These preferences enhance your personal gameplay experience and are not shared externally.
Device Identifiers:
We access your Meta Quest device model, system version, and unique device ID to ensure compatibility, optimize performance, and target bug fixes.
Device IDs are encrypted and handled per Meta’s privacy standards.
Diagnostic and Crash Data:
When errors occur, anonymized crash reports and diagnostic logs are generated to help us identify issues and improve game stability.
These reports exclude personal identifiers and are transmitted securely to our development team.
Purchase Records:
Information on items or currency bought within goda is processed exclusively through Meta Quest’s payment system.
We receive purchase confirmations including product IDs, transaction timestamps, and entitlements to unlock content.
Payment details (credit card numbers, billing addresses) are never accessed or stored by us.
Entitlement Management:
Ensures you retain access to purchased items across devices and after reinstalling the game.
This data is synced with Meta’s secure cloud infrastructure.
Your data is used solely for the following purposes:
Gameplay Delivery and Personalization:
To enable core mechanics like avatar rendering, multiplayer matchmaking, progress saving, and in-game communication.
To customize the user interface and features based on age, preferences, and past gameplay.
Account and Progress Management:
Sync saved data across multiple devices and restore purchases when necessary.
Game Stability and Performance:
Analyze usage patterns, detect bugs, and optimize performance based on crash and diagnostic data.
Community Safety and Fair Play:
Monitor multiplayer interactions to detect cheating, harassment, or abusive behavior.
Enforce community standards and prevent disruptive conduct.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to children’s privacy laws and platform requirements.
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, or selling to third parties.
Data Sharing:
Your data is shared only with Meta’s platform services as necessary to provide cloud saves, user authentication, and purchase processing.
We do not share your data with external advertisers, analytics companies, or other third parties.
Data Retention:
Gameplay session data is retained for up to 30 days for troubleshooting.
Purchase and entitlement data are retained as long as your account exists to guarantee content access.
Diagnostic logs are kept for 90 days or until resolved.
Data Security:
We implement industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.
Access to data is restricted to authorized personnel and secured with authentication controls.
Regular security audits are performed to identify vulnerabilities.
Protecting children’s privacy is paramount:
No Collection of Personal Data from Children Without Consent:
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information (PII) from children under 13 (or applicable minimum age) without verifiable parental consent.
Age group data from Meta is used to restrict access and customize content appropriately.
Parental Controls and Rights:
Parents or guardians may request information or deletion of their child’s data by contacting us at nathanpfrom@gmail.com
We encourage parents to use Meta Quest’s parental controls to manage their child’s game access and permissions.
Minimal Data Collection:
For users identified as children, data collection is minimized to only what is strictly necessary for gameplay and safety.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access and Correction:
You may request access to the data we hold about you and ask for corrections if necessary.
