Driven Cross - A cross that is kicked with power and usually at or below head height. Driven crosses are often used to create rebounds and mistakes from defenders/goalkeepers.
Lofted Cross - A cross above head height and often with less power. Lofted crosses are often used to set up headers for teammates.
Pass Backs - When a defending player passes the ball back to their goalkeeper. They must use their feet to pass to one of their teammates or kick the ball up-field since they can't pick it up.
Parrying - When you deflect the ball with your fingertips or the heel or palm of your hand. Creates a rebound, so you want to deflect the ball far away from the net or out of bounds.
Set Piece - Sometimes referred to as a "dead ball" play meaning the whistle has gone and the play restarts with a team kicking a ball from rest. Usually this term is used when the team restarting play is near to the opposing team's net and can therefore use the set piece as an opportunity to score or set up a goal.
Volley - Kicking the ball out of the air. Can be a form of goalkeeper distribution where the goalkeeper drops the ball from their hands and kicks it before it hits the ground or a type of shot from an attacker where they shoot a ball out of the air.
