Go Woo-seok, who is preparing for a major league call-up, earned a save with clean pitching. 

Go Woo-seok, who plays for the San Diego Padres and Double A San Antonio Missions, plays in game 9 against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals) in the Double A Texas League held at Nelson Wolff Stadium in San Antonio, Texas, on the 15th (Korean time). Go Woo-seok came on the mound in the top of the 9th inning with the team leading 2-1. But Go Woo-seok found stability again. This stability must continue steadily. Go Woo-seok, the closing pitcher who led the LG Twins to victory last year, knocked on the door of the major leagues through the posting system. In January, with the posting deadline looming, he signed a two-year contract with San Diego for $4.5 million guaranteed. He performed poorly in the spring camp exhibition games, losing 2 games in 6 games and having an ERA of 12.60. Last month, he returned to Korea by being included in the roster of the Major League World Tour Seoul Series held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. However, in a special match against his home team, the LG Twins, he recorded 2 hits (1 home run), 2 strikeouts, and 2 runs in 1 inning. He was hit by a two-run gun from Lee Jae-won. In the end, Go Woo-seok was left off the Major League opening roster.

Still, baseball division president and general manager AJ Preller took care to help Go Woo-seok return to normal condition. Originally, he would have been sent down to Triple A. However, the Triple A team is the El Paso Chihuahuas of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), which is extremely advantageous to hitters. It was a burdensome league for Go Woo-seok as he had to adapt to a new environment.

Accordingly, Go Woo-seok was moved down to Double A. President Preller said, “Although Ko Woo-seok is not making a rehabilitation appearance, he decided that playing in Double A would be good for the continued build-up process. In Double A, there are many coaches we trust, including the pitching coach. From a player's perspective, the PCL can be a difficult environment. “From the club’s perspective, when evaluating a pitcher, the TL can be viewed as a cleaner indicator than the PCL,” he said, explaining the reason for sending Go Woo-seok to Double A rather than Triple A. He then said, “I hope that Go Woo-seok will continue to build up his body like he did in spring camp and be in a state where he can return to the major leagues,” adding, “I hope that Go Woo-seok will return to normal condition and be called up.”
