This Privacy Policy describes how Go PDF ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the Go PDF mobile application ("App") available on Google Play Store. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name (if provided during sign-up)
- Account creation date
We use Firebase Authentication by Google to manage user accounts. You may sign up using email and password or sign in with your Google account.
1.2 User-Generated Content
When you use the App, we store the following data associated with your account:
- Documents you upload or create (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text files, and images)
- Document metadata including file name, file type, file size, creation date, last modified date, page count, favorite status, folder assignment, and tags
- Quick notes you create
- Edited text content and annotations
- Document summaries generated through AI features
- Folders and tags you create to organize your documents
1.3 Device and Usage Information
We may collect the following non-personal information:
- Device type and operating system version
- App usage patterns (features accessed, documents opened)
- Error logs and crash reports for improving app stability
1.4 Camera and Microphone Access
- Camera: The App requests camera access only when you use the Document Scanner feature to capture and scan documents. Camera data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to external servers except for text extraction processing.
- Microphone: The App requests microphone access only when you use the Audio to Text feature or the voice dictation feature within the document editor. Audio data is processed for speech-to-text conversion and is not stored on our servers after processing.
1.5 Google Drive Access
If you choose to connect your Google Drive account, we request limited access to:
- Upload files to your Google Drive (drive.file scope)
- View file metadata in your Google Drive (drive.metadata.readonly scope)
This access is used solely to allow you to export documents to your Google Drive or import documents from your Google Drive. We do not access, read, or store any other files in your Google Drive.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App and its features
- To authenticate your identity and manage your account
- To store and sync your documents across your sessions
- To enable document management features such as folders, tags, favorites, and trash
- To provide AI-powered features such as document summarization, smart chat, text translation, deep intelligence analysis, and text editing assistance
- To enable document sharing functionality between users
- To process document scans using optical character recognition (OCR)
- To convert audio recordings to text
- To provide text-to-speech functionality for reading documents aloud
- To display advertisements within the App
- To improve App performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
- To enforce our terms of service and prevent misuse
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 Cloud Storage
Your account information and documents are stored securely using Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Firebase infrastructure is hosted on Google Cloud Platform and employs industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest.
3.2 Local Storage
Some data is cached locally on your device for offline access and improved performance. This includes:
- Feature toggle settings
- Advertisement configuration
- Recently accessed document data
- User preferences (theme, language settings)
3.3 Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS
- Firebase Security Rules to restrict database access to authorized users only
- User-specific data isolation (each user can only access their own documents)
- Password hashing through Firebase Authentication (we never store plain-text passwords)
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services that may collect information:
4.1 Google Firebase
- Firebase Authentication for user sign-in and account management

4.2 Google AdMob
We display advertisements in the App using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage data to serve relevant ads. You may see banner ads, interstitial ads, rewarded ads, or app open ads.

4.3 Google Gemini AI
The App uses Google Gemini AI for document summarization, smart chat, text translation, deep intelligence analysis, and AI-assisted text editing. Document content you choose to process with these features is sent to Google Gemini API for processing. Google may process this data according to their privacy policy.

4.4 Google Drive API
If you choose to use Google Drive integration, the App accesses Google Drive API to import or export files. Access is limited to the specific scopes authorized by you during sign-in.

4.5 Google ML Kit
The App uses Google ML Kit for on-device text translation. Translation processing occurs locally on your device.

5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With third-party service providers listed above, solely for the purpose of providing App functionality
- When you use the document sharing feature to share a document with another user via a shareable link
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public
- With your explicit consent
6. Data Retention
- Your account data and documents are retained as long as your account is active.
- Documents moved to trash are retained for a limited period before permanent deletion.
- If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and documents from our servers within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal obligations to retain data.
- Cached data on your device can be cleared by clearing the App data or uninstalling the App.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view all your documents and account information within the App.
- Edit: You can modify your documents, folders, tags, and profile information at any time.
- Delete: You can delete individual documents or request deletion of your entire account.
- Export: You can export your documents to your device or Google Drive.
- Opt-out of Ads: While you cannot disable ads entirely in the free version, you can reset your advertising ID through your device settings.
- Revoke Permissions: You can revoke camera, microphone, or Google Drive permissions through your device settings at any time.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
9. Advertisements
The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. These ads may be personalized based on your interests, device information, and usage patterns as determined by Google AdMob. You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device advertising settings or by visiting Google Ad Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. The frequency and type of ads displayed may be managed remotely by us through our administration system.
10. Permissions Used by the App
The App may request the following device permissions:
- Internet Access: Required for syncing documents, authentication, AI features, and displaying ads.
- Camera: Required only for the Document Scanner feature. You can deny this permission if you do not use scanning.
- Microphone: Required only for Audio to Text and voice dictation features. You can deny this permission if you do not use these features.
- Storage/Files: Required for uploading and saving documents to and from your device.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy within the App or through other appropriate communication channels. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
12. Account Suspension
We reserve the right to suspend or ban accounts that violate our terms of service or engage in abusive behavior. Banned users will be unable to access the App and their data may be retained as required for legal or security purposes.
13. Data Transfer
Your data is processed and stored on servers operated by Google (Firebase/Google Cloud Platform). These servers may be located in various countries around the world. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these servers, which may be outside your country of residence.
