Body positivity-is the acceptance of all bodies regardless of size, shape, skin tone, gender or physical abilities.
Once you're not good enough to the society's beauty standards, the start selling: Plastic Surgery, Diet Pills, Weight loss plans,e.t.c leaving most users malnourished and unhealthy.
Everyday counts in our eating habits, ages, giving birth, work and genetic makeup towards our health conditions.
Toxic positivity- is the belief that everyone should be positive all the time regardless of difficulties, tragedy or hardship.
e.g
1)Eating disorders.
2)Substance Abuse.
3)Peer Pressure to satisfy society's standards.
Positivity is a mindset but when used in the wrong way it could lead to harmful results such as Stress, Grief, Starvation and behavioral change. All these people do just to "Fit in" the society beauty standards.
We don't have to look on the brighter side of things, in order to feel good and escape facing them.
The truth is trying to deny what is happening in reality , the positive mindset becomes worse. For instance Body Shaming ,When grief of loss (not meeting society's beauty standards) is experienced for too long it leads to stress, Isolation, and most cases to an extend of Suicide. A lot of victims that experience this are teenagers, innocent young girls growing up only to face cyber bulling about their bodies.
The best thing to do is analyze what doesn't make you happy by yourself about your body. Create healthy conditions that make us happy and not just a thought.
Thinking that a human being is happy on command should stop.
Trying to compare yourself with online bodies should stop, the photo owners don't look like what they post, most of their photos are photoshopped, filtered and added or reduced in editing to please their followers.
Everyone has a dark side, what they would wish to be right. Don't let people change you trying to change or have failed to change themselves. Accepting what you're forced to believe means rejecting how you truly feel about yourself.
TRUE POSITIVITY IS ACCEPTING THE NEGATIVE ASCPECTS AND ADOPTING TO WHAT'S HEALTHY AT THE SAME TIME.
