بهذا الأسبوع، التقيت باثنين من قادتنا الملهمين بالمدرسة من طلبة السنة السابعة. حيث أبقياني على علم، منذ بداية الفصل الدراسي، بخططهما الخاصة بإقامة فعاليات بعام 2022 لأجل جمع التبرعات للأعمال الخيرية دعمًا للمستضعفين بمجتمعنا، إلى جانب قيادة المبادرات لتعزيز التعاون والمشاركة في التعلم. كما التقيت مع ممثلي المرحلة الثانوية الذين زودونا بمردودات قيمة بخصوص نواحي القوة والنواحي التي تحتاج إلى تطوير استنادًا إلى تجاربهم على مدار أول ثلاثة أسابيع من هذا العام الدراسي. وقد اشترك بالفعل عدد كبير من طلبتنا في عمليات اختيار وترشيح أعضاء المجلس الطلابي. وأظهرت العروض التقديمية والحملات أعلى مستويات الثقة والإبداع. ونحن في غاية الفخر بكل طلبتنا، وبما يظهروه من مهارات قيادية ومؤهلات وسمات شخصية، بينما هم في خضم التحضر والتطور ليكونوا الجيل القادم من قادة الإمارات.
ونحن متحمسون جدًا لما نتطلع إليه بالأسبوع المقبل: سيركز أسبوع الطعام الصحي على أهم الرسائل والتذكيرات التي تدعم وتعزز الرفاهية البدنية للطلبة، إلى جانب اللقاء الصباحي لتناول الشاي والقهوة مع أولياء الأمور والذي سيمنح قادة المدرسة فرصة هامة لتلقي المردودات والرؤى القيمة من أولياء أمورنا الكرام، حيث أننا نسعى جاهدين للاستمرار في تحسين عملياتنا بكل النواحي المدرسية. وبيوم الثلاثاء، سنحتفل بيوم السلام العالمي مع كامل أعضاء مجتمعنا المدرسي لنتشارك معًا في إرسال رسالة للسلام والتآلف بالعالم كله.
This week I met with two of our inspirational school leaders in Year 7. Since the start of term they have been updating me on their plans to deliver events in 2022 to raise money for charity in support of vulnerable members of our wider community and also lead initiatives to promote engagement and collaboration in learning. I have also met with representatives from our upper school who have provided valuable feedback both in terms of strengths and areas for development based on their experience of the first 3 weeks of this academic year. Of course, a large number of our students have been involved in our Student Council nomination and selection processes. The presentations and campaigns have shown incredibly high levels of confidence and creativity. We are extremely proud of all of our students and the leadership skills, character and qualities that they are demonstrating as they develop as the next generation of leaders in the UAE.
We are incredibly excited as we look ahead to next week: the Healthy Eating Week focus will provide important messages and reminders promoting their physical wellbeing and our Parents Tea & Coffee Morning will give school leaders an important opportunity to receive the valuable feedback and insights of our parents as we strive to continuously improve our provision in every area. On Tuesday we celebrate International Day of Peace with our whole school community coming together to communicate a message of peace and harmony in the world.

إنزال واصطحاب الطلبة: نتوجه بالشكر إلى كل أولياء أمورنا على تعاونهم وتنسيقهم معنا خلال قيامنا بتحسين وتطوير أنظمتنا الخاصة بإنزال واصطحاب الطلبة. فمن المهم أن نُبقي على أعلى مستويات الكياسة بينما نحن نعمل بالشراكة معكم لإدارة الكثافة المرورية داخل محيط مدرستنا وبالمنطقة المحلية. وسنستمر في موافاة أولياء الأمور بالمستجدات من خلال مراسلاتنا المنتظمة، وسنزودكم بالمردودات المفصلة الواردة على استجابات استبيان أولياء الأمور بشأن الرحلة إلى/ من المدرسة، وما يتبعه من خطوات ذات صلة.
شارات أولياء الأمور/ الأوصياء: يرجى تذكر ضرورة ارتداء أي ولي أمر أو مقدم للرعاية يأتي إلى المدرسة لشارة "أولياء الأمور" الصفراء بكل الأوقات. وفي حال عدم توفر الشارة لديكم، يرجى إحضار بطاقة الهوية الإماراتية لتقديمها لضرورة تعريف أنفسكم لأفراد الأمن المدرسي، وسيصدرون لكم ملصق "الزوار" الأخضر.
اليوم العالمي للسلام: بيوم الثلاثاء الموافق 21 سبتمبر، سيتشارك طلبتنا وكادرنا المدرسي مع الجموع بكل أنحاء العالم في احتفالات اليوم العالمي للسلام. وسيحظى طلبة المرحلة الأساسية بيوم لارتداء ملابس غير الزي المدرسي الرسمي، ونرجو منهم ارتداء ملابس بيضاء رمزًا للسلام. وسيرتدي طلبة المرحلة الثانوية أوشحة بيضاء لدعم نفس الرسالة الهامة للتآلف العالمي.
أسبوع الطعام الصحي: ذُكَر الطلبة بأهمية الطعام الصحي، وخلال هذا الأسبوع سيكون لدينا الفرصة للتركيز على هذا الموضوع. وبالمرحلة الأساسية، سننشر صورًا لأكثر الوجبات الصحية على Class Dojo. وعلاوة على ذلك، سنضع تحديات للطلبة ليكملوها بالمنزل، مثل: عمل ملصق للطعام الصحي، التقاط صور لسلة طعام صحية، وتصوير فيديو لتحضير وجبة صحية. وسنضع أيضًا تحديات لطلبة المرحلة الثانوية لتناول كمية أكبر من حبوب القمح الكاملة، مع تناولها خمس مرات باليوم، والتركيز على شرب ما يعادل 6-8 أكواب من المياه يوميًا.
تأخر الوصول إلى المدرسة: نرجو من أولياء الأمور التأكد من وصول أطفالهم إلى المدرسة بالموعد المحدد حتى يتسنى لهم تحصيل أكبر قدر من العملية التعلمية، وذلك فيما بين الساعة 7:00ص والساعة 7:15ص للمرحلة الثانوية، وبين الساعة 7:15ص والساعة 7:30ص للمرحلة الأساسية.
اللقاء الصباحي لتناول الشاي والقهوة مع أولياء الأمور: سنعقد أول لقاء صباحي لنا لتناول الشاي والقهوة مع أولياء الأمور بيوم الثلاثاء الموافق 21 سبتمبر. وسُتعقد هذه اللقاءات عبر تطبيق مايكروسوفت تيمز، وسيحظى أولياء الأمور بفرصة للتحدث إلى قادة المدرسة وطرح الأسئلة حول أي ناحية من نواحي الحياة المدرسية وتقديم المردودات القيمة. وستُعقد هذه اللقاءات بالمواعيد التالية، على أن تُرسل إليكم روابط الانضمام للقاءات بيوم الأحد الموافق 19 سبتمبر:
- 9:00ص: مرحلة الروضة مع السيدة/ سارة ليونارد، والمعلمة/ لورين مورفي/ والمعلمة/ هبة قاسم.
- 10:00ص: المرحلة الأساسية مع السيد/ ماثية بارون، والمعلمة/ سيرينا باتل، والمعلمة/ أنيسة موتالا، والسيدة/ جيسيكا توسون، والسيد/ جريث كوبر.
- 11:00ص: المرحلة الثانوية مع السيدة/ سارة صموئيل، والسيد/ فينسنت مايلا، والسيد/ لوك ويدمان.
- 12:00م: المرحلة التعليمية الخاصة بمن يزيد عمرهم عن 16 عامًا مع السيدة/ تيري هادفيلد، والمعلمة/ صبا امتياز.
تقييمات CAT4: سيبدأ الطلبة الجدد والطلبة العائدين بمجموعات دراسية معينة في إكمال تقييمات CAT4، لأجل دعم معلميهم في تعزيز الاحتياجات والإمكانات التعلمية. وسيوافيكم القادة والمعلمون بالمزيد من التفاصيل فيما يخص أداء الطلبة للتقييمات.
الجلسة التعريفية لأولياء الأمور الجدد وورشة اللغة العربية: نتوجه بوافر الشكر إلى أولياء الأمور الذين انضموا إلى جلستنا التعريفية لأولياء الأمور الجدد، وورشة اللغة العربية بالمرحلة الأساسية. ويرجى زيارة الروابط أدناه للاطلاع على العروض التقديمية.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up: Thank you to all parents for your support and cooperation as we improve our Drop-Off and Pick-Up systems. It is important that we maintain high levels of collective courtesy as we work in partnership to manage the high volumes of traffic within our school and in the wider local area. We will continue to keep parents updated through our regular communications and will provided detailed feedback next week on the responses to our School Travel Parent Survey and the related next steps.
Parent/Guardian Lanyards: Please remember that any parent or caregiver who comes to the school is required to wear the yellow “parent” lanyard at all times. If you do not have the lanyard, please have your Emirates ID to hand as you will be required to identify yourself to security, who will issue you with a green “visitor” sticker.
International Day of Peace: On Tuesday 21st September, our students and staff will join people across the world celebrating International Day of Peace. Primary students will have a non-uniform day and are asked to please wear white as a symbol of peace. Students in our secondary phase will be wearing white ribbons to promote this same important message of global harmony.
Healthy Eating Week: Students have been reminded about the importance of healthy eating and will have the opportunity to demonstrate this next week. In the Primary section, we will be posting pictures of the healthiest lunch boxes on Class Dojo. Additionally, students will be set challenges to complete at home like creating a healthy eating poster, taking pictures with a health food basket and filming the preparation of a healthy meal. Secondary students will also be set challenges to eat more wholegrains, ensure they have their 5-a-day and focus on drinking the equivalent of 6-8 glasses of water a day.
Late arrivals: Parents are requested to ensure their children arrive to school on time so that they may maximise their learning. This is between 7:00am and 7:15am for secondary students, and between 7:15am and 7:30am for primary students.
Parents Tea and Coffee Morning: Our first Tea and Coffee Morning will take place on Tuesday 21st September. The events will be held via Microsoft Teams and will provide parents with an opportunity to speak to leaders, ask questions about any aspect of school life and provide valuable feedback. The sessions will be held at the following times and links will be sent out on Sunday 19th September:
-9.00am: Foundation Stage with Mrs Sarah Leonard, Ms Lauren Murphy and Ms Hiba Qasim
-10.00am: Primary with Mr Matthew Barron, Miss Serena Patel, Miss Anisa Motala, Mrs Jessica Towson and Mr Gareth Cooper

-12.00pm: Post-16 with Mrs Terri Hadfield and Ms Saba Imtiaz.
CAT4 Assessments: New students and students in certain year groups will continue to complete CAT4 assessments this week to support their teachers in establishing learning needs and potential. Details will be provided by leaders and teachers for students taking the assessments.

Vice-Principal لقد كان من الرائع رؤية كل هذه العمليات المثيرة والرائعة بالتدريس والتعلم بجميع المراحل الدراسية بالمدرسة. حيث بدأ طلبتنا الصغار رحلتهم التعليمية المميزة، وشاركوا مع أصدقائهم المعلومات حول عائلاتهم وألعابهم المفضلة. وبالمرحلة الأساسية، رأينا القدرات الخارقة لطلبتنا بكتابة عباراتهم الإبداعية الفريدة، وكتابتهم للخطابات المفحمة الموجهة إلى مديري المرحلة الأساسية، وكتابة كتب التحقيق في الألغاز الغامضة. وبالانتقال إلى المرحلة الثانوية، كان من الرائع أن نرى توسع منهاجنا التعليمي ليصل إلى برنامج التربية الرياضية للأنشطة اللامنهجية. كما طور الطلبة من مهاراتهم بالكتابة من خلال كتابة سيرهم الذاتية، كما أتاحت لهم حصص العلوم فرصةً لاكتشاف أجهزة الجسم من خلال التشريح.
It has been wonderful to observe all of the amazing teaching and learning taking place throughout the school. Our youngest students have begun their wonderful learning journeys, sharing with their friends all about their families and their favourite toys. In Primary, we have seen students be superheroes in their creative word capes, students writing persuasive letters to the Heads of Primary and others investigating mysterious books. Moving through to our Secondary students, it’s great to see our curriculum extending through our PE ECA programme. Students also have been deepening their writing skills through their own auto biographies, with Science lessons also demonstrating a fantastic opportunity to explore organs through dissection.

Head of FS/Primary Girls يا له من أسبوع آخر رائع بالروضة! حيث إن الأطفال الآن مستقرون ومتكيفون مع الروتين المدرسي بشكل جيد. فبهذا الأسبوع في الروضة الثانية، استكشف الأطفال الأشخاص الساكنين معهم بالمنزل، ومختلف البيوت التي يسكنون بها! كما استمتعوا جميعًا بالحديث عن منازلهم وعائلاتهم. وبدأوا أيضًا في استكشاف Numicon وفهم قيمهم. وقد استمتع بعض الأطفال بتنسيق Numicon لعدد المراوح – حتى قاموا في بعض الأحيان بحساب أثنين Numicon معًا وإيجاد الرقم الإجمالي! كما اكتشفنا أيضًا أن رقم المراوح لا يشمل الرقم 10! وبالروضة الأولى في هذا الأسبوع، كنا نفكر حول كيف نبدو متشابهين ومختلفين لأصدقائنا. كما أصبحنا أيضًا فنانين رائعين، وصنعنا لوحات شخصية مستوحاة من لوحات بيكاسو. وقمنا بالعد لرقم خمسة باللغة العربية واللغة الإنجليزية باستخدام أغاني مثل: "5 Current Buns in a Bakers Shop". ويرجى منكم التكرم باغتنام بعض الوقت صباحًا للنظر بالمعروضات الجميلة في الممرات المدرسية، والتي نحتفل من خلالها بأطفالنا المميزين والرائعين.
What another amazing week in FS! All the children are settling in to the routines of school so well now. This week in FS2 the children have been exploring who lives in their house and the different houses they all live in! They all enjoyed building, making and speaking about their homes and families. They have also begun to explore using Numicon and understanding their values. Some children have enjoyed matching the Numicon to the number fans - even sometimes counting two Numicon together and finding the numeral that is the total! We also discovered that the number fans didn’t have the number 10! In FS1 this week we have been thinking about how we look the same and different to our friends. We even became amazing artists and created self-portraits inspired by Picasso. We have also been counting to five in English and Arabic using songs like “5 Current Buns in a Bakers Shop”. Please take time in the mornings to look at the beautiful displays in the corridor which celebrate your amazing children.

كانت ممرات وفصول المرحلة الأساسية مفعمة بالحياة والنشاط بهذا الأسبوع نظرًا لإجراء حملات المجالس الطلابية! حيث دعمت كافة الملصقات والخطابات والفيديوهات المرشحين الذين تقدموا للترشح للقيادة الطلابية بالعام الدراسي. وكان من الرائع أن نرى ثقة مرشحينا المحتملين، والاعتبار والرعاية المتساوية المقدمة إليهم من زملائهم بالفصول خلال الحملة. ونحن نتطلع إلى الإعلان عن النتائج بالأسبوع المقبل.
وبالأسبوع المقبل، سيكمل طلبتنا بالمرحلة الأساسية بالسنة الثانية والرابعة والسادسة تقييم CAT 4، وهو التقييم الذي سيُستعان به من قبل المعلمين لوضع الخطط وتحديد النواحي التي تحتاج إلى تطوير وتعيين إمكانات كل طالب. وسيحصل الطلبة بالسنة الثالثة والخامسة ممن لم يخضعوا للتقييم التشخيصي خلال العامين السابقين من التسجيل بالمدرسة على فرصة لأداء تقييم CAT 4.
وعلى أولياء أمور الطلبة المتعلمين عن بعد الراغبين في إكمال أطفالهم لهذه التقييمات، إرسال رسالة عبر البريد الإلكتروني إلى السيد/ ماثيو: m.barron_gns@gemsedu.com، وذلك للتأكيد على اسم وصف طفلهم، وبعدها سيؤكد السيد/ ماثيو معكم الترتيبات التي من الممكن أن نقوم بها
The primary corridors and classrooms have been alive with Student Council Campaigns this week! Posters, speeches and videos have all supported candidates who have put themselves forwards for our first student leadership opportunity of the year. It has been wonderful to see the confidence of our potential student councillors and equally the care and consideration their class mates have showcased during the campaign. We look forward to announcing the results next week.
Next week our Primary students in Year 2, 4 and 6 will complete their CAT 4 assessment, which will be used by the teachers to inform planning, areas for development and identify potential for each student. Students in Year 3 and 5 who have not sat the diagnostic assessment within the last two years of enrolling at the school will also have the opportunity to sit their CAT 4.
Parents of Remote Learners who would like their child to complete this assessment should email Mr Matthew m.barron_gns@gemsedu.com to confirm their child’s name and class. Mr Matthew will then confirm with you the arrangements that can be made.

من الرائع أن نرى العديد من طلبتنا بالمرحلة الثانوية وطلبة المرحلة التعليمية الخاصة بمن يزيد عمرهم عن 16 عامًا مرتدين الزي المدرسي الصحيح. ونحن نتفهم أن اقتناء بعض الطلبة للزي الرسمي شكل تحديًا لهم نظرًا لنقص المخزون بمتاجر ثردز. على أن يتوفر الزي المدرسي بالمتاجر اعتبارًا من 20 سبتمبر، مع تواجد العديد من القطع الآن بالفعل في المتاجر. وحتى ذلك التاريخ، نرجو من الطلبة الذين ليس لديهم كامل الزي المدرسي، ارتداء بنطال/ تنورة أنيقة – رمادي أو سوداء مع قميص أبيض. وفي حال عدم توفر الكنزات المدرسية، يمكن للطلبة ارتداء كنزات سوداء أنيقة دون أي شعارات. كما يجب ارتداء أحذية جلد سوداء طوال الوقت.

تحديثات المناهج للمرحلة الثانوية
ولقد أحسن كل طلبتنا الذي سجلوا دخولهم بحساب Sparx Maths بهذا الأسبوع صنعًا. وسيتم وضع كافة الواجبات المنزلية الأسبوعية الخاصة بمادة الرياضيات بالمرحلة الثانوية على Sparx، وهي منصة تعلم على الإنترنت مخصصة لطفلكم/ لأطفالكم، وستمكنهم من تلقي الدعم اللازم خارج المدرسة لتحقيق التقدم بمادة الرياضيات.

It’s great to see so many of our secondary and post-16 students in the correct uniform. We understand that for some students obtaining uniform has been a challenge due to low stock at Threads. Uniform at threads should be in stock from the 20th September, with many items already available. Until this date we ask students who do not have the correct uniform to wear smart trousers / skirts – grey or black along with a white shirt. If students do not have a school jumper they are able to wear a smart black jumper with no logos. Black leather shoes must be worn at all times.

Secondary Maths
Well done to all of our students for logging into their Sparx Maths account this week. All weekly homework for Secondary Mathematics will be set via Sparx, which is an online learning platform personalised to your child/children and will enable them to receive the necessary support outside of school to progress in Mathematics.

من الرائع أن نحظى بفرصة في هذا الأسبوع لحضور عدد من الحصص الدراسية وأن نرى تفاعل طلبتنا بالمرحلة الثانوية في العملية التعلمية. حيث عمل الطلبة على تنمية وتعميق مهاراتهم بالكتابة من خلال كتابة سيَرهم الذاتية، واستكشاف أجهزة الجسم بحصص العلوم من خلال التشريح. وتحلى الطلبة أيضًا بالمزيد من الإبداع في الفنون، وتنمية قدراتهم بالرسم والتي تركز على موضوع الطبيعة. كما كان من الرائع أن نرى طلبتنا الدراسين لتكنولوجيا التصميم وهم يعملون بالورش لتعزيز مهاراتهم العملية بالاستعانة بآلاتنا الجديدة. ونحن نتطلع إلى البدء في أنشطتنا اللامنهجية بالأسبوع المقبل.
It’s been fantastic to have the opportunity this week to pop into a number of lessons and see our secondary students so engaged in learning. Students have been deepening their writing skills through their own auto biographies, and in Science lessons exploring organs through dissection. Students have also been getting creative in Art, developing their sketching ability focusing on the theme of nature. It has also been wonderful seeing our Design Technology students in the workshop enhancing their practical skills with all our brand new pieces of machinery.
We look forward to seeing our ECAs in action next week.
Morning Intervention Program
نقدم في مدرستنا برنامجًا تفاعليًا صباحيًا يبدأ بتمام الساعة 7:00ص. وستُعقد هذه الجلسات في الفصول العادية للطلبة، وهي ترمي إلى دعم وتنمية معرفة ومهارات وفهم أطفالكم. وأرد أدناه الجدول الزمني الخاص بذلك.
وقد عُقدت هذه الجلسات التفاعلية بنجاح، ونحن نتطلع إلى بدأ كافة الطلبة يومهم الدراسي بالأنشطة لأجل تنمية مهاراتهم وتعميق فهمهم وتنمية معرفتهم وإثراء خبراتهم التعلمية.
ولكم منا جزيل الشكر على دعمكم المستمر لنا، حيث نعمل معًا على ضمان سير أطفالكم على خطى تحقيق كامل إمكاناتهم.

At GNS we are offering an intervention program that will take place in the mornings starting at 7:00am. These sessions will take place in your child’s normal form room and are developed to support and extend your child’s knowledge, skills and understanding. I have included the timetable below.
These intervention sessions have been running successfully and we look forward to all students starting their school day with activities to develop their skills, deepen their understanding, widen their knowledge and enrich their learning experience.

Assistant Principal(Ministry of Education Subjects) في إطار تعزيز الشراكة بين المدرسة والأهل عقد فريق قيادة المواد الوزارية أولى ورشات العمل والتي حملت عنوان " تدريس اللغة العربية وفقاً لمعايير الوثيقة الوطنية"، وكم أسعدنا عدد الحضور و الاهتمام الذي أبداه أولياء الأمور بقسم المواد الوزارية، بدأت ورشة العمل بعرض رؤية القيادة في قسم المواد الوزارية والقائمة على الارتقاء بجودة التعليم والتعلم، والعمل على تطوير طلبتنا في مهارات الطلاقة والاستنباط، وتزويدهم بالأساسات التي ستجعل منهم قُرَاء نُقّاداً باللغة العربية، ومتحدثين وكتَّاباً على ثقة عالية وكبيرة بأنفسهم.
ثم قام أعضاء فريق القيادة بعرض بشكل مختصر رؤية كل قسم من أقسام المواد الوزارية والأهداف التي نسعى إلى تحقيقها، وكذلك تم عرض معايير الوثيقة الوطنية التي يسير عليها قسم المواد الوزارية وكذلك تم التطرق إلى المنصات التعليمية المساندة في كل قسم وكيفية التعامل معها، وتم مناقشة طرق التقييم المختلفة والواجبات الأسبوعية التي ترسل إلى الطلبة.
واختتمت الورشة بالإجابة عن تساؤلات واستفسارات أولياء الأمور.

In the context of strengthening the partnership between the school and parents, the Ministry of Education subject’s leadership team held the first parent workshop, which was titled "Teaching Arabic according to the standards of the national document." We were pleased with the number of attendees and the interest shown by parents in the MOE Department
The workshop began by presenting the leadership’s vision of the MOE Department, which is based on improving the quality of teaching and learning, working to develop our students in fluency and comprehension skills, and providing them with the foundations that will make them critical readers of the Arabic language, as well as speakers and writers with great confidence in themselves
After that the members of the leadership team briefly presented the vision of each section of the MOE and the goals that we seek to achieve. The standards of the national document that the MOE Department will follow were also presented alongside the supporting educational platforms in each section. We also addressed the assessments and weekly assignments that we send to students
The workshop concluded by answering the questions and inquiries of the parents
As we express our happiness with this meeting, we hope that the partnership and support between us will continue to achieve what we hope will be beneficial, and we look forward to other upcoming meetings

وبما يتماشى مع بروتوكولات الحماية للتصدي لفيروس كوفيد 19، يتعين على أي طالب يرغب بحضور نوادي الأنشطة اللامنهجية المجيء إلى المدرسة مرتديًا زي التربية الرياضية، وإحضار المزيد من المياه تكفي للتواجد بالنادي حيث أن موزعات المياه الخاصة بالطلبة ستظل خارج الخدمة. وسيتم تجميع الطلبة الحاضرين للأنشطة اللامنهجية بوقت تناول الغداء من فصولهم، بينما يتعين على الطلبة الحاضرين للأنشطة اللامنهجية بفترة ما بعد اليوم الدراسي الذهاب إلى أماكن التجمع المحددة بالقائمة المذكورة آنفًا، حيث سيتم الترحيب بهم من قبل أعضاء الكادر المدرسي المسؤولين عن النادي وسيتم تسجيل حضورهم.
ويرجى العلم بأن مواعيد النادي الرياضي للأنشطة اللامنهجية تنتهي بتمام الساعة 16:00، مما يعني عدم توفر خدمة الحافلات المدرسية بذلك الموعد. حيث يتعين على أولياء الأمور/ الأوصياء اصطحاب الطلبة من أماكن اصطحابهم المعتادة بتمام الساعة 16:00. وتقع على الطالب مسؤولية إخبار أولياء الأمور/ الأوصياء بحضورهم للأنشطة اللامنهجية، وضمان اصطحابهم ونقلهم بالوقت المناسب.

The PE department would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to a very exciting term 1 at GNS as we welcome the return of extra-curricular sports clubs to our curriculum. We are extremely pleased to announce that extra-curricular sports clubs for our secondary phase will begin the week commencing Sunday 19th September 2021.
We really value the importance of physical activity, sport and students’ well-being and as a PE department will be running wide range of activities throughout the year to help our students flourish and reach their full potential. Please see below for details of secondary sporting ECA’s taking place this half term.
In line with Covid-19 safety protocols, any students wishing to attend extra-curricular clubs should arrive at school in their PE kit and with extra water for the duration of the club as water dispensers for students will still be out of use. Students attending lunchtime ECA’s will be collected from their classroom whilst students attending after school ECA’s should promptly make their way to the locations listed above where they will be greeted by the staff member taking the club and an attendance register taken.
Please note that the finish time for extra-curricular sports clubs is 16.00 which means that the school bus service will not be operating. Students must be collected by parents/carers from their usual school pick up locations at 16:00. It is the responsibility of students to inform parents/carers that they will be attending an ECA and ensure collection and transport is arranged at the correct time.
We would like to thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing lots of our eager secondary students at GNS return to extra-curricular sports clubs to stay active, further develop their skills and have some fun!

International Day of Peace
يحتفل العالم باليوم الدولي للسلام ("يوم السلام") في جميع أنحاء العالم كل عام في 21 سبتمبر.
وقد تأسس يوم السلام في عام 1981 م بموجب قرار بالإجماع من الأمم المتحدة، ويوفر تاريخًا مشتركًا عالميًا للبشرية جمعاء للالتزام بالسلام فوق كل الاختلافات والمساهمة في بناء ثقافة السلام بين شعوب الأرض.
ونحن في مدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية سنشارك بالاحتفال بهذا اليوم العالمي؛ حيث إن من قيم ديننا الإسلامي أن نكون دعاة سلام ومحبة وتسامح مع الآخرين، وبهذه المناسبة ندعو طلبتنا في مرحلة الروضة والمرحلة الابتدائية للحضور بملابس بيضاء، كما يمكن لبس اللباس التقليدي الاماراتي " الكندورة" .
وسيقدم فريق قسم التربية الإسلامية إذاعة خاص بالمناسبة للتعريف بهذا اليوم العالمي، ونشر ثقافة السلام بين طلبتنا الأعزاء.
The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is celebrated around the world every year on September 21.
Peace Day was established in 1981 by a unanimous resolution of the United Nations, it provides a global common history for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and contribute to building a culture of peace among the peoples of the earth.
We at GEMS Al Barsha National School will participate in the celebration of this International Day. One of the values of our Islamic religion is to be advocates of peace, love and tolerance with others, and on this occasion we invite our FS and primary school students to attend in white clothes, and the traditional Emirati dress “Kandora” can also be worn.
The Islamic Education Department team will present a special broadcast on the occasion to introduce this International Day and spread the culture of peace among our dear students.

وندعوكم باعتباركم جزءًا من مجتمعنا الموقر للتكرم بمشاركتكم الكريمة بمعرفتكم وشغفكم وخبراتكم معنا. فنحن نرغب في أن يدرك طلبتنا كيفية ارتباط تعلمهم بالعالم الواقعي والخبرات الحياتية. كما نفخر بوجود أكثر المتعلمين روعةً وحبًا للتعلم والاستطلاع بمدرستنا، حيث إنهم سيرغبون في طرح الأسئلة عليكم، فيما يتعلق بمهنكم ومجالات خبراتكم.
هل أنت معماري أو مهندس أو مصمم ديكور؟ سيرغب طلبة السنة الثالثة في الحصول على مساعدتكم عند تصميم مدنهم للنهوض برمال الصحراء.
هل أنت رائد للأعمال أو مدير تنفيذي؟ سيرغب طلبة السنة السادسة في التحدث إليكم عن كيفية إنشاء شركاتهم الخاصة وعن دعم المجتمع.
هل أنت مصمم أو فنان أو موسيقي؟ سيرغب طلبتنا في الحصول على نصائحكم ورؤياكم وأفكاركم الخاصة بالمشاريع الفنية أو مهام التصميم.
لذا نرجو منكم التكرم بإعطائنا 30 دقيقة من وقتكم للتحدث إلى طلبتنا. فهذه الدقائق ستؤثر وتثري تعلم طلبتنا.

This year at GNS we are launching a programme called 101 GNS Mentors
We are inviting you as part of our valued GNS community to generously share your knowledge, passions and experience with us. We want our students to see how their learning connects to the real world and life experiences. We proudly have the most incredible and curious learners who would love to ask you questions about your profession and areas of expertise.
Are you an architect, an engineer or an interior designer? Year 3 would love your help when they design their own city to rise out of the desert sands.
Are you an entrepreneur or CEO? Year 6 would love to talk to you about how to set up their own companies and support the community.
Are you a designer, artist or musician? Our students would love to get your top tips, insights and ideas into their art projects or design tasks.
We kindly would ask for 30 minutes of your time to talk to our students. Those 30 invaluable minutes would truly amplify the learning for our students.

Assistant Principal(Innovation and Social Responsibility) بدأت مدرسة جيمس البرشاء العام الدراسي مع اشتراك كل طلبتنا في الأنشطة الإبداعية والمبتكرة. وكواحدة من سفراء جيمس العالميين، غرست مدرستنا أهداف التنمية المستدامة للإمارات والأمم المتحدة في منهاجنا التعليمي من الروضة وحتى السنة الثالثة عشر بهذا العام الدراسي. وسيركز طلبتنا ومعلمونا على النواحي الأساسية بهذه الأهداف، مثل: القضاء على المجاعات، والحياة على الأرض اليابسة، والمدن والمجتمعات المستدامة، والحياة تحت الماء، والصحة الجيدة، والرفاهية، والعمل المناخي.
وعلى مدار الأسابيع القليلة الماضية، انشغل طلبتنا بمرحلة الروضة في تنمية خيالهم ومهارتهم المعرفية من خلال أنشطة اللعب.
وطور طلبة المرحلة الأساسية تفكيرهم النقدي ومهاراتهم الإبداعية من خلال بناء ألعابهم المفضلة باستخدام الليجو؛ وتصميم حقائبهم وردائهم لأبطالهم الخارقين من أجل تأدية مهمتهم لزرع الأمل والتغيير.
كما استعان الطلبة بمهارات التواصل لديهم من خلال إجراء المناقشات حول مواضيع كبيرة مثل: هل يعد الصمت أفضل الأصوات بالمجتمعات والمدن المستدامة أم لا. ويشترك طلبتنا بالمرحلة الثانوية في مجموعة من الأنشطة الإبداعية بهذا الشهر. وقد عمل طلبة السنة الثانية عشر على أحدث ابتكار لهم Digi Invention، وتطوير حل رقمي ذكي لمساعدة شباب الإمارات واسكتلندا على البقاء بنشاط وصحة وسعادة، الآن وبالمستقبل.
ولطالما كان إكسبو 2020 قريبًا من قلب مدرسة جيمس البرشاء الوطنية من عام 2019. ابتداءً من أول تحدي Napkin حتى ورش إكسبو بالحرم المدرسي، وتحديات المجالس والتحديات الشهرية لمخترعينا الصغار، حيث تفخر مدرستنا بكون إكسبو جزءً جوهريًا بمجتمعنا. ومع حجز زياراتهم المدرسية لزيارة إكسبو بنهاية الفصل الدراسي، انشغل طلبة السنة التاسعة بعمل موقع إلكتروني مليء بالمصادر والمعلومات حول إكسبو. وهم يتطلعون إلى مشاركة موقعهم الإلكتروني الكامل مع أعضاء مجتمعنا المدرسي وفريق إكسبو التعليمي في القريب العاجل. كما حضَر طلبتنا بالمرحلة الثانوية خطابهم عن محادثات مجالس إكسبو حول الفضاء والتسامح والشمولية ومواضيع تنمية الحضر والريف.
ونحن نخطط للمزيد من المبادرات والتحديات لتعزيز التفكير النقدي؛ وحل مشكلات العالم الواقعي، الابتكار والابداع بين طلبتنا في هذا العام الدراسي، كما نتطلع إلى هذا العام الرائع للمضي قدمًا به.
GNS has kick started the academic year with all our students being engaged in creative and innovative activities. As one of the GEMS Global Ambassadors, our school has also embedded the UAE and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals across our curriculum from FS-Year 13 this year. Our students and teachers will be focusing on key areas of the SDGs such as Zero Hunger; Life on Land; Sustainable cities and communities; life below water; good health and well being and climate action.
Over the last few weeks, our FS students have been busy developing their imagination and cognitive skills through play activities.
Our primary students have been developing their critical thinking and creativity skills by building their favourite toys using Legos; designing their own super hero cape and bags for life for their mission to bring hope and change.
Students have also been putting their communication skills in action through debates around big topics such as whether silence could be the best sound for sustainable cities and communities.
Our secondary students are taking part in a range of innovative activities this month. Our Year 12 team have been working on their latest Digi Invention, developing a smart digital solution to help Scotland's and the United Arab Emirates' (UAEs') young people keep active, stay healthy and happy, now and in the future.
Expo 2020 has always been close to GNS’ heart since 2019. Starting from the very first Napkin challenge to on-site Expo workshops and monthly young innovators and Majlis challenges, our school prides itself having Expo as a key part in our community. With their Expo school visits booked for the end of Term, Year 9 students have been busy developing a resourceful website with information about Expo. They are looking forward to sharing their completed website with our school community and Expo education team soon. Our high school students have also been preparing their speech for the Expo Majlis talks around space; tolerance and inclusivity; urban and rural development topics.
We are planning many more initiatives and challenges to foster critical thinking; real world problem solving and innovation amongst our students this year and look forward to an awesome year ahead.

Head of Post 16يسعدنا الإعلان عن حصول مديرة المرحلة التعليمية الخاصة بمن يزيد عمرهم عن 16 عامًا، السيدة/ صبا امتياز، على جائزة التميز الدولية لعام 2021، وذلك عن التزامها المميز واسهاماتها القيمة بمجال التعليم في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
وقد مُنحت لها هذه الجائزة خلال مؤتمر القمة الدولية للاستدامة والنمو، بعام 2021، في دبي بالإمارات. ونُظمت هذه القمة المؤثرة تحت إشراف ورعاية فخامة معالي المهندس الشيخ/ سالم بن القاسمي.
We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Saba Imtiaz - Head of Post 16, was chosen to receive a Global Excellence Award 2021 for outstanding commitment and contribution to education in the UAE.
The award was presented during The International Sustainability and Growth Summit, 2021, Dubai UAE. This powerful summit was organised by The Guide under the Grand Patronage of His Excellency Eng. Sheikh Salem Bin Al Qassimi.

Traffic Update
Due to the dynamic nature of traffic management, we do have to make changes to our traffic flow at short notice during peak times to ensure everyone can move in and out as quickly as possible. Therefore, you may find that GATE 3 is an entrance and times and an exit at other times. Please kindly follow the instructions of our staff in regards to GATE 3 and if directed to a different gate, please cooperate with us as we aim to ensure everyone has a positive experience.
Covid-19.
Please continue to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions and regulations and be vigilant for signs of infection. Most importantly, please keep the school informed of any positive or close contact cases.
Please remember that any parent or caregiver who comes to the school is required to wear the yellow “parent” lanyard at all times. If you do not have the lanyard, please have your Emirates ID to hand as you will be required to identify yourself to security, who will issue you with a green “visitor” sticker.

لقد تم في العام الدراسي الماضي إطلاق برنامج "نجوم جيمس في حسن معاملة الآخرين"، الذي يهدف إلى الإشادة بالطلبة الذين يتحلون بسلوكيات تمثل قيم الاحترام والإحسان للآخرين. كما تكمن أهمية هذا البرنامج في التأكيد على ضرورة تعليم هذه القيم للطلبة ليصبحوا مواطنين عالميين صالحين.
At the end of last year, we launched the GEMS Jewels of Kindness program which seeks to exemplify students exhibiting core values including compassion, kindness, respect, helpfulness and empathy.
The aim of this program is to emphasize the importance of values education to help our children become better world citizens.
